- The closer an orange is to the sun, the riper the fruit is. Our first stop after arriving at the Cretan port of Elounda was the Orange Village Fodele, and the owner of this family-owned orchard gave us a masterclass in picking the best oranges. We have also learned the word “philotimo,” which in Greek means hospitality and compassion for other people, and experienced it everywhere we went on Crete.
Stopping at a local restaurant to taste some Crete-grown lamb has turned into an unexpected music and dance festivity started by the restaurant owners and their relatives. The Bering team joined in and had lots of fun. This great feeling continued during the visit to the oldest pastry shop in the city of Rethymno, where we learned to make the famously thin phyllo - Greek pastry dough. The spiritual part of the visit was the Savior Monastery, where 13 nuns who lived there were busy praying, painting icons and frescoes, and making praying beads.
It was the first part of our Crete trip; the next series will feature knifemaking, picking olives, flying a hot-air balloon, and other exciting activities. Stay with us for more of the Bering Life excitement!
Inspired by not only your faith, but also your willingness to show it and the sacred places you visit. Thank you.
Thank you Alexi you put sunlight in my day!

Fantastic vid- I like Greece a lot, and I love explorer yachts. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Greece and explorer yachts is a great combo, however, just wait, it will get better.
Alexi, this was a wonderful journey. Thank you for this glimpse into who you are. I have a place like your chapel, though it is completely natural, about half-way up Rising Wolf mountain at Two Medicine in Glacier National Park, Montana. I haven't been there in more than thirty years, but you have me thinking about going back - I am 72 but could probably make it still. It would be great to look out on clouds below me again from that vantage. Regarding the sea trial, everyone wonders how different yachts perform in rough seas - you've given us all a great marker with this footage.
Thank you for your commentary. Some people don’t like going back, but all those sweet memories it gives you… if you decide to travel there - enjoy it!

Sorry, my previous comment was for 'Back to Antalya' - CZcams jumped me forward a bit.
It took me a while to finally watch this but it was worth it. I tried getting the o Crete when I was in the area but it never worked outta me for showing me what I missed!
Next time you have a chance do it - it is totally worth it.
