Really glad to see AliasV featured here. Also glad to see Brawl. I've been more interested in it now that standard has an extra 30 MYTHICS that i can't afford to craft any number of and can barely open in packs. Hate that part. But Brawl is fun at least
They originally forced commanders to keep Perpetual effects and as they printed more Perpetual cards they made it a choice to remove all Perpetual effects from Commanders when they go to the Command Zone. It's all-or-nothing though. So you lose beneficial Perpetual effects that you placed on them if your opponent has placed a harmful effect you want/need gone.
There's an exception with Perpetual, when your commander changes zones, you get the option to "remove all perpetual effects" before doing so
