Paints mind blowing model.
Marco: "I'd like to paint it again at competition level"
Marco : 'Be loose, be fast ...it's super relaxing...' Me: after 3 hours reaching for the methylated spirits to strip yet another disaster-piece.
HELLO GUYS!!! I missed you 😁 See you later in chat at the premiere and on TWITCH immediately after the release 😘 -> www.twitch.tv/marcofrisoninjm DROP a LIKE to help the video!!!
I would love to see you paint this to display/competition level. I would absolutely love to see the difference between the two.
For a long time, I didn't know that display and competition were not the same, but even those are quite different.
Display typically tries to show something more artistic than technical. A concept of light and volumes that may be presented in very dramatic way. In some aspects, it can be as good or even better than a competition piece, but it usually only holds up when viewed from one particular direction that shows off said dramatic presentation. It is often 2-dimensional in that regard.
Competition typically tries to show something more technical than artistic. While still obeying color theory and contrast, it has to hold up under the scrutiny of a magnifying lens, and 360 degrees of viewing. No matter which way you view it, it has to be exceptional, and yet make sense on the whole. It is often 3-dimensional in that regard.
Display is usually for the artist or collector. Competition is for the judges and the mastery of technique.
It's why us "regular" folk aren't judges of the higher end painting competitions, because we would just go by what looks cool from a display angle instead of really looking at it under magnification and critiquing absolutely everything about it.
THIS 😁
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM specifically what would be really cool would be be a side by side of the same model where you explain where you diverge in it step for each process I.e how you adjust undertone values with the speedpaint approach and then a competition undercoat with with a handy timer to see how much care each part needs to bring out the best.
@@saltedllama2759 You learn something new everyday

I find your videos to always inspire me and motivate me to try to grow my painting skill. This video put a smile on my face, thank you!
wow, this is stunning, loads of thanks!
I’d just like to paint it once.
Mind-blowing how long something this epic, has been out of stock and “online only”!
Absolutely stunning work. Incredible that it only took you 5 hours!
That's such a nice, moody model! And the paintjob really elevates it!
Nurgle gives a lot of opportunity to learn new techniques!
Can’t wait for this one. Good to see your face again. I missed it!
Ready to cook some delicious nachos!!! 😂 Thanks a million man 😉
Ready to cook my delicious nachos!!! 😂 Thanks a million man 😉
FIVE HOURS?! I swear you're a wizard.
Your speedpaint videos are my favourites! I'm a slow painter but I find them great as a starting point for inspiration.
I love your approach to mini painting.
What a strong comeback to YT🎉. Missed your videos!
I was so glad to see you put this up. The old version is one of my favorite all-time sculpts and one of the first minis I tried to paint well.
He's made me want to add the Liquitex inks to my airbrushing arsenal.
Have been testing paint scheme's on plague bearers recently and this give me some much new inspiration, especially how you go around the color wheel and why, thanks Marco!
Beautiful as ever Marco. Thanks for your inspiration!
Always incredible work. How you use colors, jaw dropping.
This is a work of art🥰
I immediately was to sketch and paint this. Thanks for the inspiration 👍
Amazing video man. The science you use to create the looks and finishes at this speed is genius. Literally amazing man.
Learned tons from your videos, thanks so much Marco!!
Mate, I love your work so much! Always inspires me to keep painting and improving. Thanks for another amazing video.
Absolutely gorgeous painting tutorial !!!
awesome as always, learn so much from your videos
Thank you so much for the inpiration Marco, this is the same palette I'm planning to use for a nurgle themed Beastmen army for The Old World.
This is one of GW's best miniatures ever in my opinion so I couldn't have asked for a better demonstration.
great soundtrack to an amazing paint job!
Il saper dipingere dopo anni di pratica ci si arriva, ma è il concepire le tonalità le saturazioni ed i vari passaggi che ti rende inarrivabile. Complimenti 👏
So many new concepts! Thanks Marco!
Just started into 40k with death guard, definitely gonna try this method out, thanks!
My absolute favorite miniature that you’ve completed so far! 🔥
This is giving me interesting ideas to try for my new Tyranids! thanks again for your great videos
Soooo good to see you on youtube again!!!!
You are the best Marco, glad to have you back on YT!
You are ridiculously talented! I have no idea what you're on about but as a mere mortal i really enjoy your insight and content 😊
wow beautiful looks relaxing to do this style.. thanks for sharing
more of this please
Amazing Video and Mini mate🎉🎉🎉 thanks for Sharing. Im gonna try your Method😊😊😊
Incredible work as always !!!
Stunning work Marco! 😍🙌
I would love to see you paint a Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy!!!
So happy to see a new video, totally understand that you were working on twitch but I missed your videos.
I feel like I always learn more about colors every time I watch a video and this is no diffrent I love how instead of going for a dead look you made it bright while still keeping it Nurgal colored so to speak
incredible! Very inspiring.
Absolutely a gorgeous paint job! You make me want to start a Nurgle Army
yet again amazing work
Absolutely gorgeous piece, sir
Great work Marco. 👏👏👏
Impressive, looking forward to the display model.
Incredible as always, thanks Marco
Ciao Marco. Ancora una volta è stato un bel video. Mi rende orgoglioso di avere un patrimonio italiano. Mio nonno era piemontese e prestò servizio nella seconda guerra mondiale come alpino combattendo con i partigiani. Continuate così.
Wow Marco as always it’s incredible will absolutely try to follow along, you make it look so simple but I guess that’s because you’ve mastered the technique 😜
Beautiful. You made this grim model so colourful! Reminds me of John Blanche.
Darn you, Marco... you drove the price up.
And of course I had to buy the model..... (rolls eyes).
Looks fantastic.
I hope I can do even half as well. I'll certainly put the love into it.
amazing work!
Great work again. Never thought about makling a base undercoat with so much colours, the result is very subtle 😶
Unbelievable, Marco! 💥
I really liked this video!!! nice combination of paints and techniques! i´d love to see you paint some of Westfalias Mörg Borg miniatures!
Been missing you Marco :)
Marco you are back ❤ I missed you
The legend has done it again!
Grande Marco ❤ sempre il top
Other painters make painting look easy, you make an insanely good paint job look even easier. It really makes me want to try out your techniques, even if it isn't as easy as you make it look 😂
Love your work. Could we perhaps get a video about how you approach a model that is significantly less busy than the nurgle model we saw here? something like a Tyranid from the new leviathan box? Tyranids are classically 2-3 colors, pretty simple and don't have all the adornment of other factions. I am having trouble getting my mind around how to apply your techniques to models that are less busy. Thanks for all you do for the community.
You are such an amazing painter! You make it look so simple it´s annoying! ;) Would really want to see you painting this as a display piece.
Thanks! Cool video.
Beautiful job!!! Thanks.
😊😊😊😘
missed you too Marco!
thnx ..looks amazing ...so good .:)
Ok so I’m not the only one who saw a frazetta influence in this model!
INCREDIBLE !!!!!!!!!!
Yet another beautiful paintjob!
I have been binge watching your speed painting videos over and over. Both for entertainment, and in an attempt to improve my own speed painting skills. It's something I have always struggled with 😅
I'm currently taking inspiration from your "Grimdark 2.0 TMM Black" video, and using it on my Necrons army.
Have you ever had issues with the Duraluminium or The Grey Shade paints causing the figure to feel "sticky" when spraying? I don't think that it's because the paint isn't curing. It's on there just fine, doesn't rub off and I'm not leaving fingerprints in it either. But it just has this slightly tacky feel, and I can't figure out if it's normal, or if I'm doing something wrong 😂
I thinned both with Vallejo airbrush thinner.
Thanks for all the great videos! I love them all, and I'll probably keep watching all of them on repeat from time to time 😄
Hes back!
Thank god you arr back! 😅
Very inspiring
Marco is back
missed this!
Your fast /relax standard looks much better then my display quality
Magnifique!
Amazing
Stunning as always. While I understand your reasoning with the oil wash do you believe that could be achieved with an acrylic variant of the same?
You are one of my favorite youtubers. Do you do any traditional painting? I would love to watch you paint a scene on a canvas
Thanks a million!!! In the free time I mostly draw in pencil/pen/charcoal, but a canvas can be an interesting topic 😊
NJM '23 Symphony!
MAN😱!!! THANKS YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH ♥️😘♥️!!! You don't have to 😉
An absolute masterpiece and amazing tutorial! How do you like the Schmincke inks compared to the ones by Liquitex and Daler Rowney? Are there any big differences?
I love the undercoluring you do before applying the brush. Is there a generic way of “if you’re painting xyz colour, use abc colour in the undercolour”?
This sculpt from GW is pretty cool
Frazetta Death Dealer Vibe.
You're a color wizard 😍
Te ha quedado maravilloso!!! Seria bonito que pintaras un Mortarion con el mismo estilo. Si queieres te lo envio ;)
perfect it look like its so easy when im watching you
tell me are you wanna make the same video for the FEC character ??
Hi Marco, I've been using the Molotow black acrylic as an undercoat from your recommendation over the last few years and have found that it sometimes, maybe every four or five figures worth, it doesn't fully cure in some recesses and remains active, spilling out as a dark stain when I least expect it. I've even purchased new bottles from different production runs and it still happens at the same frequency. Have you ever experienced this? I've mentioned it at the art shop and they too are surprised. I've even done very light coats, building up over time. One possible explanation may be small amounts of finger grease on my figures, but it's usually in the deepest recesses where my fingers couldn't have reached. I've resorted to buying a Schmincke neutral grey aerocolour which I mix with the molotow white for an opaque mid grey coat first (as the schmincke tends to separate into translucent pools by itself) which hopefully on this run of figures I get better results.
Me: 19 minutes saying "what!?" "what!?" "what!?"
Also me in minute 20: "What the fuck!?"
Jawdropping as usual.
Love having the 50fps back, Marco! Now that you have a new pc (yes, have been paying attention during your streams), maybe you could experiment with even more production quality improvement like 1440p or even 4k?
Great video...but you always make me want to buy more products! :) Hey what tech are you using for your camera/lighting/sound?
che pezzo impressionante, davvero bello. Vorrei capire di più come fai a stabilire quali colori vanno in determinati punti. Su cosa ti basi?
Nice job! What medium do you use to be able to wet blend for such a long time?
Had to wait a long time to hear your voice after Kontrast :D
What is your opinion on the Vallejo X Color line?
5 hours. It would take me weeks 🤣
Amazing work. Just wondering why you had the blue paint that you use for the armor on a metallic vase and no a wet palette?
Thanks! It's because being so fluid its consistency its quickly, easily and massively changed but the water from the palette, so I keep it in its own dry container
Thanks for the explanation
long time !!
is it glaze medium you mix into the metallics?
