  • Danny is trying a new tool in his hunting arsenal. He will be using the JX3 Outdoors Hybrid saddle rather than his traditional climber tree stand. After trying a DIY sit-drag saddle Danny decided that he needed something more comfortable and suitable for his style of hunting. After contemplating the Tethrd Mantis and Phantom, the Aerohunter Kestrel and a number of other tree saddles, he settled on the JX3 Hybrid because of its similarity to a treestand. The Double Rope Technique is also an excellent way to compliment the lightweight run and gun style of hunting that saddle hunting promotes. Follow along as he transitions to using this new tool along with the DRT climbing method.

    Swamp N Stomp is a channel or vlog, whatever you want to call it, dedicated to helping the hunting community grow, specifically in Florida. Studies show that the majority of modern hunters had family members who raised them as hunters, and a large portion of non-hunters want to hunt but don't know where to start. By documenting our hunting adventures, making instructional or tutorial videos, and really anything-hunting-related videos, we hope to help bridge that gap by providing practical information for beginner and experienced hunters on how to become a better and more ethical hunter. Climbing hooks makes it a lil easier and safer in my opinion. But with saddle hunting a platform, ring of steps or screw steps is a must without it you don't have any mobility to make a shot.

    How do you clean the JX3? I used mine for four days last week hunting and it stinks! I noticed the black screw heads are rusting just from dew and moisture in the air. No scent spray didn't help...

    • @SwampNStomp
      @SwampNStomp  Před rokem +1

      You could use some lite soapy water on a rag and just scrub it down. Then hose it off and hang to dry. It’s mostly synthetic material so you ain’t gonna buy it. -Danny

    • @SwampNStomp
      @SwampNStomp  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks bud! There’s always risk involved when climbing trees. This method has been used by arborist for years. It’s important to put the rope in the wedge between the branch and the main part of the tree. That way you are not putting the weight far out on the limb. Also consider the diameter of the branch.

    • @johnbrink7430
      @johnbrink7430 Před 4 lety

      Please dont use that technique on pine trees!

    • @jhuntley575

      I've rope mod on my sticks I'll bet you it's silent other than the initial set to take out the slack. Which I'd venture to say is comparable to the friction noise of the ropes sliding

  • @johnbrink7430
    @johnbrink7430 Před 4 lety +1

    I don't think I would trust a pine tree branch. I have been using hawk helium, predator platform, and tethered mantis. I have shikar sticks on the way. I dont think I would go back to a climber.

    • @SwampNStomp
      @SwampNStomp  Před 4 lety

      Yea some pine trees can be sketchy. You definitely wanna use your best judgment when selecting a tree to climb. For this video purposes I only had a few to select from in my yard. I would have selected this tree had I seen it out in the field as well. The branch crotch that I was climbing was easily as thick as my leg.

    • @SwampNStomp
      @SwampNStomp  Před 4 lety

      It looks a bit sketchy but I’m not actually hanging from the limb. I’m
      Hanging from the wedge between the limb and the main part of the tree. It’s critical to get in the wedge. -Danny

    • @SwampNStomp
      @SwampNStomp  Před 3 lety +1

      We use Samson predator, which is not completely static but has very little stretch. That little bit of stretch is nice when your girth hitch slips and readjusts on your way up causing you to fall a few inches, the stretch absorbs the impact very well. -Mark
