- Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has announced plans to establish a seaport in the state.
The project which will be located in Owazza, Ụkwa East LGA Abia state will be flagged-off on 30th September 2023.
The governor made this announcement at the ongoing South-East Security Summit in Owerri, Imo state.

That village in abia is actually the closest to ocean in Nigeria go and verify. Port Harcourt have the deepest port that can carry ships that the Lagos one can't contain. Six ports in Lagos alone built by FG, but the ones built by calabar rivers akwaibom Delta are left to become inactive deliberately by FG.
Let all these governors join their eastern counterparts and fight for our economic liberation

Establishment of a seaport is going to be a huge gamechanger especially in the East. I really love how his excellency is working. This just shows how quickly Nigeria can be transformed if we truly have the right set of leaders. If people had put aside their differences/tribalistic mindset and voted Labour Party at gubernatorial and presidential level, we would have been praising other leaders as well for such immense achievements as well. I voted GRV and Peter Obi knowing fully well these candidates have similar mindset towards infrastructural developments as well. Honestly, I'm not surprised this man is performing. But the person who made all this possible is this woman: Prof. Nnenna Oti 🙌🙌🙌 It would have been a completely different story if she had accepted the bribe to change the INEC results during the last gubernatorial election 🤷♂

My only concern is what will happen to the port if the FGN refuses to grant the licence for the functionality of the port just like they did to the one at Akwa Ibom state? It would be a brilliant development if only the phobia of the easterners and deliberate state policy to stagnate the region by the FGN would not be extended on this project after its completion.

I hope you are aware that no state government can establish a seaport in Nigeria without the approval of the federal government(Tinubu)?
Fyi, seaport is on the exclusive list in the Nigerian constitution which means, your governor Alex Otti cannot build one without the express approval and support of President Tinubu(federal government).
