    wooh, this brings it all back, loved XTC from seeing them play "making plans for Nigel " on TV. I used to work in a record shop & drove everyone crazy playing " Drums & Wires " non-stop

    You can thank - or blame - XTC for much of the British indie guitar rock that emerged from the mid 80's and right through the BritPop era. Incredible band - and a shit load better than all of those bands.

      Barry left in January of 1979. David Gregory joined right after, and was present with them from the band's 3rd album to their second to last album.

      The Monochrome Set are another band who were in session the night after this was broadcast. Then there's an edit so the "see what I mean?" bit is completely unrelated.

      Steve Blease The intro is Andy Partridge joking around...apparently John Peel really liked it so they actually used it as the show intro.
