The Reynolds grave in Lancaster is worth the trip. I was there last weekend. July 1, 2023, at 10:30 -- 160 years to the hour when he died.

There exists some controversy even today as to the type of bullet that killed Gen Reynolds. (i.e. whether it was a Confederate conical shaped *_infantry_* mini-ball, or a hexagonal shaped bullet fired from a Confederate *_sniper's Whitworth_* rifle) One of the two sisters of John F. Reynolds, who apparently got the story from an aide of Reynolds (who was on scene when he was shot) reported that the bullet entered his body in a downward direction, eventually entering his chest. A downward direction would indicate a sniper's bullet from a rather long range. If shot by infantry from the woods, the bullet wouldn't have passed downward as the General was on a horse. Anyway, if this downward direction is correct, it means the bullet might be with his remains in the coffin. It's a bit morbid, but such an investigation might finally reveal if the "sniper theory of the general's death" is correct or not. Today the majority of Civil War historians think that Gen Reynolds was shot from a volley of Confederate infantry fire in the woods...but today is over 150 yrs from the event.

I noticed something moving in the woods toward the end of the vid...@27:35, when you say "fallen hometown hero" ...in the trees to the left of your head (your right).
The movement seemed low to the ground, like two small critters. Maybe it's a "ghost hog" or something paranormal...lol
You refer to the corp crumbling after the death of General Reynolds and falling back to the ridge from Gettysburg. Wasn't it always the plan to fall back to the ridge?
