So Mazda basically attached things to the stereo until they had a car.

Not very hard if you watch this video while you are working. Just watch, stop, and do until you have your factory stereo out. Anybody can do this. Thank you for posting

    Thank you sir. Much appreciated.
After Watching this the first time it seemed it would be very hard. When a local shop quoted me $260 for the installation I was like screw it and started doing it myself. Took me around couple of hours and all set. Next project is to hook up the backup camera

You're kidding me, Mazda engineers design the car around the radio!!!!!!

Do I have to go through all those steps just to remove the top of the dashboard?

Thank you for the video. What stereo or adapter did you use to maintain the steering wheel controls? I purchased a stereo that is "steering wheel control" compatible but can't find the wires for the steering wheel controls.

Thank you for sharing. Hoe do you fix the cage of a double din pioneer stereo to the dash? And on the stock stereo what are the two connectors on the left?

Yes, on a scale of 1 to 10, I give this stereo removal a 13 on difficulty.. Takes forever!
