I’ve read comments that say JT was a terrible singer & guitarist. This video clearly demonstrates how he played with his SOUL. I love this video & have watched it 25 times & I only got into him one week ago. LOL. He’s the best.

Watch story of a junkie the opening monologue is riviting in a caustic sense. He went by gringo in the movie perhaps that was his NY city nickname? I know that guy was railing heroin for some time even in story of a junkie which is my second favorite film next to repoman
Yes, the movie was originally titled Gringo when it was first released in 1983 or 1984, but upon its subsequent (& MUCH more successful) re-release a few years later, it was re-titled Story of a Junkie. He was known to everyone he met as John Spacely (a name he picked out for himself, since he found his real name to be completely unacceptable) from around the 1960's onward. Before he left for NY, though, he did NOT use heroin at all. He used to drink a lot, but didn't do heroin until after Cindy left him to move back to Washington & later got killed in a horrible road accident. All of those horrible things combined (including her early-morning spontaneous abortion) proved to be too much for Spacely to bear on his own, & he tried heroin & ended up getting hooked. By the time he cleaned up, however, he found out he had AIDS & ended up passing away from it in the mid-90's.
