Its a testosterone/glamor/raw rock passion that makes it appealing, message aside. That being said I love this song, some good china white (or maybe I dont ;) ) and I got into the music and "that" lifestyle because of being a musician and guys like Thunders, Phil Lynott, Andy McCoy, Nikki Sixx, Cobain and Layne Staley being my idols (all at diff time periods of my 30 year life. Still enjoy them all). Even though some guys live and some dont...alot do. But man...RIP to the ones who dont. The music, footage, and lives these men lived are eternal. The famous saying......"Hey man do you know where we can find a really good drummer with a Van"? It's all about the Generational Chronological Order, and Context of Music, that has been reconstituted, though there is always a First to that Generation! As Art being the Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder! One can say that Music is in the Ear of the Listener! I personally think that Johnny Thunders, and Walter Lure are the Epitome of how Genius Muscians, and Heroin go vein in vein! It's that Dichotomy, and Duality of "Sex,Drugs, and Punk Rock-N-Roll"! Sure one can compare, label, and even have bias! Me personally was more of a JT,and Heartbreakers kinda girl, but laying in bed next to me on the other side were The RAMONES!!! Dee Dee Ramone wanted to write a song about Heroin that was better than Lou Reed's version of his song Heroin. Chinese Rocks was the slang term for Heroin in New York in the 70s coz it came in bags labelled 'Chinese Rocks'
