This is exactly what happened to me and my daughter. 10 years with a private landlord who decided to sell. I am disabled so the council did re house me and my daughter but i had to fight all the way for it. The system is so messed up. Good luck with your move. I think you made the right choice.

FFS totally empathic with you - we rent but luckily by a big private estate ( some tenants have been born and died in theses houses).
They wanted to increase the rent by £70 last month (negotiated to £40 increase) for next 2 years but like you Ivan, went down the council route - no bloody chance!
We too looked at the static caravan but bamboozled with permanent 12 month tenancy - such a mind field 😱
Banks and mortgage lenders really ought to take into consideration how long someone has paid into renting somewhere without arrears as security that they are good security for the future.
Feel so sorry for young people nowadays - you have either got to be very rich or very poor - nothing for the hard working middle people 😢

The banks are owned by Blackrock/Vanguard,/Statestreet who fund all the NGO'S who control our Government and make policies,
They plan to make it impossible to afford a house and they are buying up all the land and property to build their 15 minute Cities
Or Ghettos, When Liebour get in who are also WEF controlled just like the current parasites in power there will be 15 million migrants imported into the country by 2030 to boost our economy and they'll tell us it will help the housing crisis.

SERCO have been offering private landlords 5 year contracts to house migrants and they will maintain the property and take care of everything. My son has been given notice to quit his private rental too. This has happened to a lot of people recently.
Yes I’ve heard that to. It’s disgusting the way people are being treated by their landlords. They shouldn’t be allowed to terminate people if they have done no wrong, then get other people in for more money off the government. The government is making them homeless effectively. Time for a big change in power and I can’t wait.
When Liebour get in they plan to bri g in 15 million migrants into the Country by 2030 so councils will be forced to reserve new builds for them so this will make it even garder to find rental properties.

G'day Ivan, at 75 I shall be watching you with a very keen eye and taking on your ideas. I too am moving on from a 4-bed home on 1/4 acre to a ground floor property with a hankie size patch of lawn. Container planting has been on my mind as I move my 'stuff' so it'll be really interesting to see how you go plus what does and doesn't work, as the saying goes 'when life gives you lemons make lemonade'. So sorry to hear that. We put ads in about 30 facebook groups and found a reasonably price house with a garden the size of several alotments with a private landlord. The house isn't perfect and needs a lot of work but we're grateful we have a place for now. Took us 6 months though so did the same as you, loads of container gardening. Good luck with your move ❤

Been through the same ourselves with a good old section 21 a couple of years ago You've done the right thing taking control. We did and it's great no longer worrying about landlords! I also put my name down for an allotment. Waited a while, but now been allocated one, so I agree with others that you might want to get your name down. Wishing you the very best and good luck to anyone else who is having to rent privately.

Have been experimenting with making compost in 10, 20 and 40 litre lidded buckets/bins. Just using household scraps, papet, some leaves and coffee grounds. It works!

Oh I'm sorry hear about you having to move, I only had 6 weeks to move after only been there for 2 years. I cried all day on the day of move. Its been 5 years and I still feel it. But I kept busy and got to nesting again to make the new place home. Gardening is great for this. I really appreciate all you put up on youtube. When I had no garden, on the 1st floor, I was fortunate enough to have a small balcony. I filled it with lavender, strawberries, chives, nasturtiums and also had a blueberry bush. All containers. I love your positive attitude and taking control of the situation. Looking forward to see what you do in the new place.

Hi Ivan, we had to move from a lovely house with a large garden, used to grow all our own veg and kept pigs and chickens in south Lincolnshire on the marsh about a mile from the wash. All we could afford was a 1 bedroom first floor flat with only a communal garden. We put our names down for an allotment and after two years got one. It’s eight miles away but it’s still our space and we can grow again. I have a little grow house which I’ve been allowed to put in the garden so I can sow in the flat and bring on in the grow house. Hoping I will be allowed to put a few pots in the same area so really interested to see how your containers do.
I wish you all the luck in the world, I know how much it hurts to leave a lovely garden but we bounced back and I’m sure you will too. Love and blessings.

Damn. Shit situation to be in. Social housing is at an all time low. Thinking outside the box and I really hope it works out Ivan. Bit flat round Lincolnshire so get your pots strapped down. Ivan mate, the system sucks. I'm so glad you found a solution. I grow in raised beds but also many containers. I hope everything goes well for you. Hopefully you can squeeze onto the site a small greenhouse for starting off in (or a cut down section of your existing one). I've only been an occasional watcher but I've now, liked, subbed and rang your bell. When one door closes etc. I'll be watching mate. All the best.

You're very lucky that you're already very knowledgeable when it comes to gardening. You just need to transfer your knowledge to container gardening now. I'll be watching your new videos closely since the only gardening I do is in containers as well.

Are you allowed to have a wall greenhouse or two? I have 4 little lean to coldframes that I bought cheaply from Aldi. They have 4 shelves, made in wood and glazed with polycarbonate. Opening top window and 2 opening doors. They are great for protecting plants early on and then for growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and melons in. Good luck with your new life adventure. I am sure it will b fantastic and great to have your own place with no worries of ever being evicted or terrible rent rises. Happy gardening 🙂

So sorry to hear that you have to move out, it is a wonderful place to grow your own without an allotment. Make sure that you sell the greenhouses and get a few quid for them. A lot of landlords around here are selling up too and evicting tenants, Are you allowed to stay in the caravan all year through? A lot around here close for about 6 weeks. I wish you and the Mrs lots of luck and look forward to updates.

You are an inspiration Ivan, I have followed your videos for quite a while and invested in loads of your washing up bowls!! They are a brilliant idea and work perfectly. We lived in a static caravan for a year when between houses and I loved it. Less housework, warm and cosy and our outgoings fell dramatically. Your positivity will get you through this and I can't wait to see your videos about container gardening, please don't give up, you have a lot of followers out here. Just half way through this video and wanted to say I’m so sorry for your situation; you must be gutted. Your positivity is inspiring. Your situation might actually help many fairly new gardeners. I, for one, look forward to more info on container gardening.
Since last year I find I have a 60’ by 14’ concrete back yard but I have bought 6 large (by their standards) raised beds from B &Q and 20 large tubs (30 litres each) not to mention an endless supply of pots of various sizes so please know that the good Lord will bring good out of your awful situation.

Growing in pots is way better than not growing.
Do the 10l potato pots give you a decent harvest? The ones I use are about 30l. Sorry if you've covered it already, this is the first of your videos I've seen.

I know this type of life change can have its moments but I think this is exciting. Container gardening is underrated and more people should be encouraged to provide for themselves this way. It is ideal for empty nesters, those with small or no garden space and people with physical limitations. It is just as rewarding.
