This is a great tutorial! I thought I knew "in theory" how to swap the sunroofs, but I didn't know as much as I thought I did. Now I know how it's actually done!

Brother thank you ...another forth gen just got a glass roof and my slider was popped out since I bought it works great now ....might try shimming the whole assembly to get it to sit further down awesome vid been there forever without it thanks again

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the BB4 is the only sunroofless 4th gen. Just like my Mugen too. :)

It has been a very useful work, man. The only issue I don't understand is why did Honda use the metal sunroof only in the 4th gen among all generation preludes? I definitely have to do this work.

Why not use use W40 to loosen the rusted nuts? It's way easier. But your video is very good and informative.
PB blaster/WD40 always a must but at times the nuts are so rusted and brittle that they just round out when trying to remove.

@10:14 How did you get your dash cluster lights so bright? Is that factory on your year? I have a '92 which I installed the tiny blue LEDs in the back of the cluster and they're still not nearly as bright as yours.
Since you have a 92, I'm assuming you are referring to the speedometer/tachometer cluster. The face-lift versions of the 4th gen Prelude came with the EL cluster. Found in 94-96 4th gens with at least the Si and Vtec trims. It glows bright and the needles also glow bright red. They are lit up by having these light tunes behind the new gauge plate. You can always upgrade your 92 analog gauges to an EL cluster. Just source the cluster with the silver inverter box and the full dash harness for your manual or automatic Prelude.

Looks good! Great video! What are the pros and cons of having a glass sunroof? Like does the glass crack or leak?
Stock metal rusts at the seals and will eventually leak. Looks terrible and a real pain to then remove. The glass is a great replacement, looks great and does not leak.
@@TheDarkRican hey I finally did it today! There’s a step I didn’t see in the video: cut or shave off the two metal tabs on the 5th gen sunroof! But overall, this video helped so much, keep it up bro!
Glad you were able to use the video to get the conversion done. I recorded the part with the metal tabs to cut but it was missing in this video. I have a prep video with that part in there that is in the links below and at the end of this video. Im sure you love how it came out on your lude!

I missed the part where, is it supposed to open? Mine open but dosent tilt the back so it jammes about 3/8 further
So 5th gen and 4th gen covers are the same no leaks? I have a 5th gen that i want to delete the sunroof for lightweight but i can only find a 4th gen plug.
Bro, I have prelude bb4 1996, but I get problem how to get the sunroof that needs to be replaced bcs the old one has been badly broken. If there is a place where to get or buy, let me know. I am quite far here in Aceh, Indonesia.

Sorry for the late reply, you can manually crank it open. In the middle of the rear black plastic headliner, there's a circle piece that pops off. Use an Allen wrench to manually crank the sunroof open.
So i recently got the 5th gen sunroof assembly, but its there a way to keep slide to let light in when ever i want ?
Requires alot more customization to the 5th gen sunroof assembly and the 4th gen headliner.
Hey man! I was wondering if it’s ok to just use the 5th gen brackets on the 4th gen slider? They seem to fit, so I’m not sure if maybe we use the old brackets for another reason. Let me know! Awesome video
Tried it out myself! The 5th gen brackets make the sunroof sit up at a strange angle in the 4th gen, so the old brackets are definitely the move here!

15:25 if the bracket is popped into the slider there is no reason why it wouldn’t
Yes the glass replaces the old metal roof and operates the same. 👍

You should check all the nuts are tighten

Yes you can
Is it complicated to remove the glass from the assembly for the fifth gen?
Yes not at all hard. Just the glass and not removing the whole assembly that is.
