They filmed Raising Arizona in our neighborhood and used my parents backyard for the film crew to eat in. Also, Nicolas Cage climbed our fence in the movie and the Doberman scene was filmed next door. They filmed a week and a half in our neighborhood that was about 5 minutes in the movie. It was all night scenes that I watched every night. I am telling about this because Valley Girl was the only reason that I knew who Nicolas Cage was. Great job on finding filming locations.
I also graduated from high school in 1983. James Monroe HS in Sepulveda. Grover Cleveland HS in Reseda for my freshman year. Wonderful time to come of age.
We went to a Culture Club after party at the Tick Tock restaurant after the Hollywood Palladium show in ‘83. IIRC, people we saw there included Rick James, Prince, and Shalimar. The Viper Room was called The Central back then.

Thanks for putting this together! LA and The Valley are so different now from back then. I was born in The Valley, and remember it like this. I also remember when punk rock swept through Los Angeles and the rest of Southern California. This is a classic movie like a little slice of LA history. It's such a different place now.. two more things about this film and Nicolas Cage. First what a great soundtrack it has, and my father was a young professor and had Nicholas Cage in his class a long time ago and apparently he ended up slapping Nicolas Cage in some verbal confrontation they had in his class. That's a true story. Thanks again for the video.
I love this movie! Filmed in the L.A. I grew up in. I was born in the Valley, and although I grew up in the West Side I did spend a number of years living in the Valley. My first two years, and then on and off from my late teens to my late twenties in college and I worked in the Valley. The contrast between the west side and the valley is tremendous. The mentality, the way streets are laid out. The Valley feels a lot less crowded. The Valley is also a lot more affordable than the West Side. Yeah, the weather's not as nice in the summer, but beyond that it's alright the rest of the year.
Watched it again last night for maybe the 20th time since I first saw it at The UA Valentine Theater in the Bronx back in '83....GOOD MEMORIES!!!...GREAT MOVIE!!!
Underrated and overlooked, love it, damn! Dont ever stop doing these, your providing the absolute nectar of nostalgic curiosity mixed with geographic history, or something like that.
Such a great post! This movie captures so much of my life 1986 entering HS (I only saw it on VHS a couple years after it came out). Top 10 fav for me as well, fer sure, like totally. I just took my 18 year old son to southern cal and did the night drive as best I could. My son didn’t dig the Pat Travers song - because I obviously raised a philistine- but it was blasting on repeat along with Modern English and The Plimsouls, of course. Thanks for the labor of love putting this together.
Everything is so boring nowadays in comparison to all the neon 80s signage flashing with life and fun everywhere; the bowling alley, movie theatre, mall, etc... Valley Girl is also probably in my top 10 all time favorite movies, it gives you the perfect 80s atmosphere that so many of us crave!
Definitely my favorite film from this time period. I went to the Sherman Oaks Galleria in the mid 1990’s. This movie was the BEST (all that iconic music, the clothes, etc. ) The opening song is my favorite! Oh how I wish I could turn back time. I know a lot of the lines by heart. Thank you so much for sharing!
Great work. Thank you for documenting so thoroughly the site locations to this little secret guilty pleasure movie. Your effort is greatly appreciated, especially the Hollywood High shot which I would have never even tried to find.
Thx-GREAT post!!!Actor Tony Markes (Brad)was a family friend.. They used his real life house with the turqouise door.on Dixie Canyon in SF Valley for Julie’s house. I used to go there.for Christmas parties and kissed a few guys there.I just went to his moms memorial and they talked about it😃😃
I absolutely Loved that movie, and the music. It takes me back to my youth. I grew up in Diamond bar in the late 70’s . Thank you for making this video I really enjoyed it .
Aaahhh I was 11 and that was my favorite movie and #1 movie in my life so far. I love this movie! Like totally! The cover of Valley Girl shows the wrong girl and irks me every time I don’t see our Julie in it. Thank you for doing this ❤

I had totally forgotten about DuPars. Then when you mentioned it was gone, I got a little sad by its passing. In 1971 I became friends (met em when I was attending Valley Jr College) with some classmates who lived in the DuPars neighborhood. I never cared for their pies and since no one wanted to hang out in my neighborhood (Bob's Big Boy in Burbank/Toluca Lake) I spent many a Fri/Sat night there. Great memories but lousy food! LOL Thanks for these fantastic videos. Brings back such wonderful memories. Keep up your fantastic work.
Thank you for doing this. I grew up in North Hollywood and as a Valley Girl myself I went shopping a lot at the Galleria in the 80’s. I also remember DuPars in Studio City. I never went to Pacific Palisades beach but Santa Monica. Even when I was born we Lived in Santa Monica. I love the movie so much I have it in DVD.
This video brought me to your channel, Valley Girl is one of my favorite movies. I lived in Hollywood for many years and love seeing places I knew so well. I met Elizabeth Daily at a club in the early 90s and she was really nice.
Oh i pray that house is still around. I always thought houses from films should have a small plaque. I really appreciate the hard work gone into making a movie and if we love the movie, just dreamy!
This movie is for sure a classic awesome movie that is underrated! I went on the filming locations as well and I’m really glad I got to go into Dupars on Ventura Boulevard before they closed it down. That was the spot that they met to eat at and when Julie and Randy went on their date. We proceeded to where Julie’s house was in the current owner was actually nice. We respectfully sat in the car and just looked and he actually walked over and he did say that all though slightly updated, basically everything’s the same. Even the brown shades that she opens up in her room when she saw Randy sleeping on her front lawn is still there. ☺️
I drive by a lot of those locations often and happen to have that movie recorded on my DVR. Now I am glad I haven't watched it yet. That is since it first came out. Oh Doty :)
I'm was an 80's kid. Love your channel. Watching House Party and Clueless next. Can you PLEASE do Less Than Zero...no one has done that, FTA Ridgemont High, and Poison Ivy filming locations. Might have to wait after Covid..

REALLY Glad i found this channel!. I'll be 55 yrs old this August. Living in Santa Barbara County not to far from Los Angeles, grow up watching all these movie's your showing then an now to. You drove past two spots where i was a bouncer in Hollywood Ca. One on Hollywood and Vine right down the street from the Capitol Records building which is a parking lot now. An there on Sunset boulevard right on the same side as The BodyShop Strip Club was Dublin's Irish Pub. Man you have a EXCELLENT channel my friend keep up the fantastic work!. I know you can't go to Chicago but definitely you can look up the Los Angeles filming location for Last American Virgin or MAYBE even Steve McQueen's The Hunter where he lived in Los Angeles and some of the places they filmed at in Los Angeles. THANK'S AGAIN Sorry back again WOW Just see Du Pars Restaurant. I was a bouncer/doorman with in walking distance up the street on Ventura and Carpenter at a place called Page71 for 6 year's 2013 to 2019 an NEVER know that restaurant was in the movie. They even tore down the McDonald's that was next to Du Pars. AND I AM A NEW SUBSCRIBER as of now!
Thanks for this. I've only been to Los Angeles once, and stayed in the Hollywood area. I realised almost straight away that I was walking in Valley Girl filming location territory!
I moved out to LA in 1983 a month after graduating High School. Valley Girl was still in the cinemas back in my home town in Connecticut. I'm a little surprised you missed the location of the famous/infamous "Seven Seas" night club on Hollywood Blvd. which they had passed by as they were driving into Hollywood for the first time after the party, or the view from Mulholland Dr... Thanks for taking the time to travel back in time!
I was 14 in 1983 and I still make it a point to watch this movie whenever it's on. It's sad to watch this because it makes you realize how fucked up and un-fun everything is now

I owe this man a lot. My wife and I fell in love walking the locations of some of his videos. If I'm lying, pigs and I both are flying. Thanks.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Valley Girl!
Dude!!!!! I love this. One of the best 80s films.
Interesting! Thanks for all the effort that went into this vid!
Thank you!
Watched it again last night for maybe the 20th time since I first saw it at The UA Valentine Theater in the Bronx back in '83....GOOD MEMORIES!!!...GREAT MOVIE!!!
I loved this movie. So underrated. The music was amazing. I refuse to watch the remake lol
My pleasure. Thank you so much for watching
I absolutely agree. Thank you!
I'm so glad he's my generation it feels so good to look back at these B movies
I've seen Valley Girl dozens of times, and yet I never realized that the Drivers Ed teacher was Les Nessman! It only took 38 years to find that out!
Great work. Thank you for documenting so thoroughly the site locations to this little secret guilty pleasure movie. Your effort is greatly appreciated, especially the Hollywood High shot which I would have never even tried to find.
Thank you for watching
I've been to most of them places class of 88 loved it there and the movie
Thanks for such a trip thru time! Valley Girl is my favorite for SO many reasons! ❤🎉
Great job on these locations from a classic movie...fer shure. 👍
Thx-GREAT post!!!Actor Tony Markes (Brad)was a family friend.. They used his real life house with the turqouise door.on Dixie Canyon in SF Valley for Julie’s house. I used to go there.for Christmas parties and kissed a few guys there.I just went to his moms memorial and they talked about it😃😃
Omg I love your story!
I absolutely Loved that movie, and the music. It takes me back to my youth. I grew up in Diamond bar in the late 70’s . Thank you for making this video I really enjoyed it .
One of my all time favs too! Thats when I got a big crush on Cage. ;)
Aaahhh I was 11 and that was my favorite movie and #1 movie in my life so far. I love this movie! Like totally! The cover of Valley Girl shows the wrong girl and irks me every time I don’t see our Julie in it.
Thank you for doing this ❤
I don't like modern changes. The original is better! It's like a cut to my skin to change the original awesomeness. Thank you for uploading. It's a very special movie to me! Proud to say I had my baby in the Valley. Take care & thank you to the cast! We love you all! And your work.
I love this movie!!!! Thank you for showing us this!!! I hate the changes and the loss, too. You should see my hometown. Heartbreaking.
This is my tottary favorite favorite 80's movie ever and its so cool that you found the locations
Thank you for watching
I lived in the area when the film was made and it was nice to see what has happened in the over 30 years since I have been gone, Thanks.
Thank you for watching
I had totally forgotten about DuPars. Then when you mentioned it was gone, I got a little sad by its passing.
In 1971 I became friends (met em when I was attending Valley Jr College) with some classmates who lived in the DuPars neighborhood. I never cared for their pies and since no one wanted to hang out in my neighborhood (Bob's Big Boy in Burbank/Toluca Lake) I spent many a Fri/Sat night there.
Great memories but lousy food! LOL
Thanks for these fantastic videos. Brings back such wonderful memories.
Keep up your fantastic work.
Exactly.. I didn't care for the food at all, but I was so sad when it closed down. Thank you so much
Thank you for doing this.
Loved Valley Girl! Know it by heart glad you did a video on the highly underrated 80s classic 👌🤙"Is this film in 3D?" "No but your face is!"
Great movie. So many memories - esp since I live here now. Thanks for putting that together.
Thank you for watching
Excellent video! What a great era in my life when these movies came out.
Thank you! It was the best times!!!
One of my favorites. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's so great. I hope they save the house
Hey. Thank you so much. Yeah there are a lot that are gonna have to wait till Covid is over... it's a major pain. Your request for Less than zero has been heard and I will see what I can do 🙂 Thanks so much for watching.
@@80sLife Dude..Thanks
Hell of an 80’s movie. It’s in my top 5 all- time favorite 1990’s films. Nicholas Cage and Deborah Foreman were a casting match made in Heaven. I must’ve watched the movie a thousand times. Foreman was also great in My Chauffeur. Long live the 1980’s! 🎥😎🙌🏾🤙🏾✌🏾
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. And thank you so much for watching and subscribing
You do such a great job of walking through all the filming locations. Thank you.
Thanks for this. I've only been to Los Angeles once, and stayed in the Hollywood area. I realised almost straight away that I was walking in Valley Girl filming location territory!
Awesome. Thank you for watching
Wow this is incredible! I wonder if the people that own Susie's house know how iconic it is!
Thanks for this video. Very interesting
Yes, I wonder the same thing. Thank you for watching
I was 14 in 1983 and I still make it a point to watch this movie whenever it's on. It's sad to watch this because it makes you realize how fucked up and un-fun everything is now
