    Hi guys. The director of this movie said Phil was stuck in a time loop for 30-40yrs. ❤

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino Před rokem +3

      Which might not seem like long compared to the original script’s 10,000 years, but 30 to 40 is still the same day, over and over, around 12,000 to 15,000 times. That really is a lot of time on your hands, especially when you don’t have to concern yourself with anything particularly new or unexpected happening.

    IMO everything changed when he said, truthfully for the first time ever, "I'm happy now."

    The mayor, reading the scroll, is Bill Murray’s brother. Brian Doyle Murray. He was the caddie supervisor in CADDIE SHACK.

    Love this movie! Great reactions - really fun to relive these moments. I read somewhere that, based on the days we see and how long it takes to master those skills that Phil learned, the time loop has been calculated to be going for about 34 years. Crazy!

    He said it took him 6 months to perfect his card tossing, To play piano like he did would take many years of not only lessons but a few hours practice per day.

    In the original script, Phil relived the same day for 10,000 years. Ramis has tried to say it was less, but since it's not stated in the film, I go with the writer's original intent.

      @@Joker_JAK that period of depression isn't what I mean. I don't believe he could go 10,000 years without being completely and permanently deranged/psychotic for most of it.

      @Joker_JAK Před rokem +2

      @@that.ll_do_pig I know what you meant. At the end of the day, it's a movie. If you can accept that a person can relive the same day over and over AND come back to life after killing themselves repeatedly, then you should accept that he didn't go mad for being stuck for a long time. All of it is ridiculous.

    Top movie. One of my absolute favourites! I also really like the acting of Bill here. This movie reminds me also, in a way, of It's a Wonderful Life with James Stewart. Not only feel good movies but also ones with a beautiful 'message'.

    The official that handles the groundhog and is in the choking scene is Bill Murrays brother. It is not certain how many days it took but it for sure took years. I have heard guesstimates of anywhere from eight years to eighty years. The plot is very similar to the movie Scrooged which if you haven’t watched it you will probably like it. Very good just stop thinking and enjoy movie.

    If I remember right, they filmed the timeline in reverse - Harold Ramis knew Bill would get grumpier and more difficult to work with as time went on, so the scenes where Phil is the nicest are the ones filmed earliest..

    It is also kind of a funny throwback for Bill Murray to interact with/talk to/have a grudge against the groundhog in this movie after his time with the gopher in Caddyshack (1980.)

    I am not sure if it has been explicitly stated...but since "gobbler" is a nickname for a turkey, and a "knob" is another word for a hill, it seems pretty dang clear that the "Gobbler's Knob" bit is aimed squarely at a foods company called Turkey Hill. If it is not aimed at the foods company, then it must be a joke about whatever the foods company is named after.😂
