The people she hurts are the ones who threaten the safety of her children and now grandchildren. To be fair I think a lot of people would behave like her if this was what it took to protect our loved ones.
Historically, it was rumored the King Francis could not impregnate anyone bc of all his childhood illnesses. He died at age 16, leaving Mary a widow at age 18. She was two years older.

He is her grandson and her beloved late eldest son Francis' only surviving issue. Basically he is Francis' living legacy and Catherine's and of course his dead mother lady lola's too.
I love how Narcise was so fatherly to little John when he was with him holding his hand a reassuring him 💙💙 when Catherine talked about Francis I cried and then about Lolas eyes it was so sad!!! But you can tell how much Catherine loves little John too!! ❤️💙

Narcisse and Elizabeth were both evil characters that I would not trust with a child. Francis didn't trust Narcisse with his child and Lola at the end was just desperate to leave her son with Narcisse because there was no one else. So I think that child should have been raised with Mary or Lola's parents. People forgot about Lola's parents.
last night I binge watched the fierce season and the only thing that went through my mind was so much suffering and loss not just from the 5 girls who arrived at French court but also Catherine and bash. the good old days when they only worried about Francis and Mary's wedding and Catherine's scheming

To me, he had the most interesting character development of all. He starts out as a ruthless antagonist with only his own interest at heart and gradually evolves into someone to rely on and who will put other interests above his own, yet without losing his previous characteristics completely. It would have been interesting to see his and Lola's dynamics after her time in England, which clearly changed her, but... :(
Was still kind of evil in the end. Did castrate a man like a week prior to this scene. And he spent pretty much his whole marriage with Catherine as his side chick because Lola did not want to get kinky in bed. He loved Lola (no doubt) but never really honoured her as a wife.

Which left the little Princess in the care of her grandmother when she not yet 3 years old.
I'd love to see a spin-off of reign totally fictional ofc but with like John, Kenna's child, Grier's daughter or something it would be really interesting
