I like how they portrayed her wedding compared to her wedding to Francis. In her wedding with Francis, it shows how light and happy she was. She was actually happy there compared to this wedding with the dark atmosphere. She isn’t even smiling in this one. You can really tell where her heart is even though her feet are moving at a completely different direction.

The last two seasons was actually the only time this show felt like a period drama. Before it was more like a teeny bopper CW teen drama. Even the costumes got better in the last two seasons. If you stopped watching then, you missed out on when the show actually got good.

this literally made me cry, because i miss frary so much! darnley is such an arrogant selfish idiot and francis was mary's true other half. I love how they protrayed Darnley's wedding as more rigid and tense without Mary smiling and just stone face to show that when she was married to Francis, she truly was happy.
Jireh Jaramillo that's how it is with all her other relationships as well. Even with conde who she "loved" (I hate to say the love part they were terrible together) she didn't seem to be very happy, they never laughed together and he didn't make her smile very much. Same thing with bash (although I do love him) and Gideon. No one brought her joy like francis, they were so happy. Except of course when she cheated on him and all that. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it. Frary forever!

When she was at French court it much more brighter and open meaning she enjoyed life and having people that care about her shortly after Francis died. But in Scotland its gloomy and dim meaning how sad she is without him and all of the troubles she went thru.

I love Reign so much. I think a lot of people forget that it isn't really a love story, it's the tragic story of how Mary loses everyone she loves an eventually gives up on her personal happiness. It is so well done, as much as I hated the last season because Francis died and Mary was miserable, it was beautiful in the darkest way.
Love vs duty. I love how they portrayed both wedding the whole aura around the wedding and Adelaide did fantastic with showing emotions without even saying a thing she truly made us feel what she felt

i think this song goes so well with mary's situation. "I'd rather watch my kingdom fall" is like "I'd rather watch my kingdom fall than lose Francis" or ".. than marry you (Henry)" or ".. than love someone other than Francis"
Mary told Francis when he died. . . That she would NEVER love anyone the way she loved him. She meant that and kept that promise. Even when she did sleep with Darnley and got pregnant. Even when she did marry him, all of it was for her country. There wasn’t a single moment where she did any of it bc she wanted to or because it made her happy. Those moments died with Francis and she knew she’d be sacrificing her own happiness to continue fighting for her country. The only other person she put effort into loving WAS her child. Everything else and everyone one came third in comparison to Francis and the baby, James.
The contrast between this sad wedding and her joyous wedding to Francis is so stark! (In this phase of her life, Mary had a really difficult time. Darnley turned out to be a bad choice and many things went wrong. So, I cried when she first saw Francis's face in heaven! After she'd gone through so much and mostly on her own, she badly needed peace and his enduring love.
Mary's marriage to Francis was for love, while her marriage to Darnley is for duty.
The moment she looked at Catherine...their relationship always had ups and down.. but towards the end I love how they built a mother daughter bond..a true one midst of all the fake ones.....
I stopped watching the show after Francis was killed off, only sometimes caught on with clips from yt and I'll always remember the show but it's like watching something different for me, personally. Seeing how Mary was when Francis was alive, and how she is now, forced to marry Darnley... It really does look so different to me (not saying like a bad thing).

Notice how it is dark and gloomy at their wedding but it was happy and had lots of light at Marie and Francis’s wedding. And at Marie and Darnley’s wedding it was a song implying she did not want to marry him, but with Marie and Francis it was a song about love. 😭

When Mary said to Conde there was no true match for her except for a king, bc she believed she’d ruin the simple happiness of any lesser man.Well that’s why her and Francis belonged together bc they were both ruined in the way only a king/queen could be and despite every wrong and horrible thing they’d done to one another there was acceptance and understanding from both of them for each other. They both knew why the other did what they did even if they didn’t necessarily agree with it. Only Francis would sacrifice so much for Mary he loved her so deeply and so much more than any other man ever could. I’d like to think that’s the way it was in real life but things were different, but in the world of Reign I know that they’re united in heaven at last. I cried when Francis died, only tragedies can end up being so heart wrenching and memorable. We all knew what would happen in the end but still it hurts...
What I love about this show is how Mary is such an amazing, brilliant person, but also human, with flaws and mistakes, and those are just left there among her good traits for the audience to notice and pick apart, rather than the show either actively excusing all of her mistakes or rubbing them in the audience's nose so that we can see "character development" through artificial flaws. She is a person, and it is on the audience to pick up which of her actions are correct and which faulty. My favorite is Greer's gentle "Mary, I know you, it won't be enough" which is basically a code for "you are so going to cheat on the schmuck".

When Francis died I felt so sad it broke my heart and I cried. Love is not perfect but the love that Frary showed for each other seemed so real. These two have great chemistry and are good actors.
Frary may have had many imperfect moments, but they are the most perfect for each other...

I love this, you can see the difference even in her dresses. She is wearing white with Francis but gold to darnly. In history gold was the color for French weddings but she wore white to honor her country and traditions. I don't know if it was purposeful but it shows her honoring France and her true soulmate!😚

I loved this show. You hated and loved characters that showed their treacherous side, then their good side. How easily we forgive, how easily we can condemn. They had the most outrageous costumes, absolutely stunning! Learned my history too, not that everything was spot on, but pretty close. Now I have a new show to find, but will be hard to find another as colorful and as grand as Reign.
