Davidson vs Alekhine
Semmering 1926
Agad, this game is not a perfect one with engine precision, but it features an unconventional and against-the-principle strategy where the winning side underdevelops his pieces while forcing the opponent to develop.
Reti on this game: "At this point, the reader will probably be perplexed. What advantage can there be in forcing one's opponent to an apparently sound development? As a matter of fact, we see here a strategic idea which had not been applied before xxxxxxxxxx." (Don't want to spoil)
Credit: I saw this game first from Chess Wisdom YT channel. I just want to watch this with your analysis
As an 1700ish rated player I also had my fair share of tricking stronger opponents in endgames, I was playing against someone around 2000 and was in a completely losing rook endgame, but my opponent was careless and a bit overconfident, he allowed me to get into a K+Q vs K+R situation, After the game has ended he showed me he knew the Philidor position, so it's not like the endgame was completely unknown to him, the only issue was that in the game he failed to force the Philidor position and I ended up getting a draw by the 50 move rule.
Games like this are the reason why open tournaments are much more exciting than closed super GM events.
It's called that simply because it's organised by the Dubai Police Department. Fun fact: GM Salem AR Saleh is a Dubai police officer.
But why does the dubai police organize chess tournaments?
@@thenoblegnuwildebeest3625 Why not? there is the US Marine Corp marathon for example. There are lots of examples of government agencies sponsoring sports event.
@@MRichK Exactly. Although you can see Marines doing marathon themselves. Now police and chess - there is no obvious relation.
@@thenoblegnuwildebeest3625 for the same reason they have Bugatti, Lykan, Lambos etc. Probably lots of funds and little to no crime in Dubai. No theft is worth getting your hand chopped.
@@SpeedDaemon3 Unless you're stealing artificial limbs maybe?
"Even your uncle gets a draw." HA!
Apparently Jannik Sinner is playing chess...

Lmao
Thank you big brother for demonstrating the a c f h pawns rule
I learned a lot from this game. Thank you.

Antonio, you might want to cover the game Nisipeanu-Bukavshin in 2015.I'd say that game deserves the title of"Romanian Immortal",since the thing has so many tactics to cover and to talk about.Calculating all that on a real board must be crazy. Many thanks!
Fun fact: Artemiev is the only Russian player who has the Russian flag on the chess results page of this event
Stop mixing chess and politics.
@@eternalbattle1438 FIDE is responsible for mixing chess and politics. This commenter just pointed out one of the results. Noticing is not political.
Everything is politics - if you aren't interested in politics sooner or later it would be interested in you, and, in many outcomes, not in a good way
@@eternalbattle1438 sounds a good plan. Now go tell that to FIDE
@@tktilk3878it’s only because of people like you that mix politics with entertainment.
That Nf6 tactic happens in one of the main lines of the Rossolimo attack. Artemiev played an unusual move order to get a similar pawn structure to that.
Adham Fawzy plays some interesting chess.
Im not a gm but i saw the knight capture, but I didn’t see the follow up. These guys are geniuses 😮😮😮
Didn’t know the pawn idea at the end! Learned something new
Agad is such a fabulous teacher demonstrating his profound love for chess in this video! I learned a lot through the uniquely crafted lessons in this video. Thanks so much, @agadmator!!!
Thanks for the lesson.
Learned something new today. Thanks
Gran partida.gracias agadmator's.Saludos.
It's called Dubai Police to deter one Anish Giri from 15'ing the chess pieces🤣🔥

I just want to enjoy the show.
Very nice video!
Chess is not infinite. The number of possible legal positions when including promotions is unimaginably big but finite nonetheless
Thank you for showing the seven move game. It was portrayed in a Tamil movie Kamali from nadukaveri released in 2021. I was not understanding then. Now after watching your video I Could. I am following you for the past 3 years
#Suggestion Nodirbek Yaqubbayev vs Edgar Mamedov Dubai Police Global Chess Challenge 2024 round 3
this actually increased my vast knowledge of chess. twice.
10:00 - "can't move the knight" -- knight to f1, protected by the king & prevents back rank checkmate
i think after nf1 the idea is r d1( and you cant play bd4 cuz its covered by the rook ) followed by r b1 to win b3 pawn
Well it does but Black has enough drawing resource at that point because of Rd1 any move and Rb1(unstoppable) the bishop and pawn both hang. And w/black having an extra passed pawn w/a rook even against two minor pieces should be a draw. I guess agad wasnt interested to show variations because the king's ultra passive on g1 and this didnt happen in the game.
If Nf1 then Rd3 winning the b3 pawn and black is playing for the win although the position is still a draw with correct play
You're right that gets out of the draw, by losing🙄
inactive knight, get pinned by Rd1, b pawn will fall, how do you stop pass pawn, the promotion square is light square, white has dark square bishop. Sometimes Agad overestimates his audience, myself included.
Very nice game! - Thanks
Very interesting lesson I want to be like you
Please review Dubai police global chess challenge : Hans Neimann vs Mohammad Fahad who is a uprising talent from Bangladesh!
Artemiev has ice in his veins that was badass
Seeing Artemiev in action is always good fun - I can't wait for the World Blitz!
Incredible draw here!
Let’s goooo Egypt! 🇪🇬
I knew about the c and f pawn from doing Josh Waitkin's lessons on Chessmaser Grandmaster software some 20 years ago
Same here!
@@agadmator Those endgame courses were a treat!
Lovely
That was fun
Bro made brilliant moves just to draw .It relates 😂
6:10 "and naaw" I saw you voice going down.
what an incredibly wild game
El khatib predicted that 😂😂❤
Vladislav ! baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more
10:03 Nf3 isn't forced, Nf1 followed by g3 & Kg2 to unpin then you're fine with white
As an Egyptian I'm so proud of our GMs Bassem Amine and Adham Fawzy ♥️♥️
It pays to know your endgames.
Thanks for sharing this, just a little note the name is pronounced “ad-ham” with the h sound present. 😊
The Police is called to guard the Rook!!!
can you please construct the final mach from the Luzin Defence movie ?
there's a mistake in the line you were showing, you can defend with knight coming back to F1...so it's not a draw
Stalemate is so nice
i am a simple man, i want to watch chess, i watch agadmator
#suggestion Any of the 2 games of niemann from this tournament. He survived a scare in both.
Two interesting gambits. Do they have a name?
Impressive 😮
Egyptians on fire ! Well played my country man.
6:43 what happened if Rc8 not Rd7? Thank you
Even your uncle can win this.
Kasparov's neice watching the video: He could've won starting from e4 tho
Dubai police has not got much to do so they got the chess
*artemiev is such a fresh player to watch in an agadmator' video*
His name is Adham not adam, which is also used in Arabic language. Adham means black in Arabic، or leaning to words darker shade. Oftenly it describes black horses
#suggestion. Abdusatarov, Svidler, and Erigaisi tiebreakers
Exciting to watch live but not much to cover after. Plus the tiebrakers were 3+2.
Mate in seven i had againts 1300 player but iam surprise to saw the idea againts 2500 grandmaster
There are draws and there are SICILIAN draws ☠️
Siberia...freezing cold, dark, bleak, hostile and barren...the land of Vladislav Artemiev!
5th or 6th here. Maybe 11th now.
I finally figured where Agadmator got "Sorry About that" from. He got it from Harry Porter the Sorcerers Stone when Hagrid first met Harry Porter he said "Sorry about that" and also Hagrid does look like Agadmator yunno
Adham is Sagar Shah lite
7:00 why not NB4
10:00 ehy not nf1 ?!
because rook to d1 will be a problem
What if White played Nf1?
Sicilian is such a bad opening, if you keep in playing forcing move, you will lose. Sometimes its better to just stabilise the position
I’m on a terrible losing streak. I had to remove the app from my Home Screen 😢
10:01 wouldn't you go Nf1, open up a pawn like g3 and then extricate the King that way?
Rd1, g3 and Rb1. You lose your b pawn and black draws. I think.
@@srenkristiansen2516 Thanks 👍
I think the mate-in-seven is Legall’s Mate…maybe someone correct my spelling…Cheers
gg
Chess is quite obviously finite!
Artemiev is such a creative player
Supported by Dubai police that’s why
Νιψε😊
can someone answer my noob question: can you not checkmate the king with a king and a queen?
Yes, of course, only here Black still has a pawn, so he can theoretically get a queen. White has to prevent this, only if he captures the pawn, and the black king is in the corner, it ends in a draw, since Black is not in check but has no more moves.
@@nenoilic2581 Oh I didn't appreciate black had no more moves, many thanks!
I'm wondering how many ratings artemiev lost for this draw. Anybody knows?
