August 12, 1984 at Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium. A few fans were arrested for getting into the brawls that erupted in the course of the game (most notable was one fan throwing a cup of beer at Padres outfielder Champ Summers, and a couple others jumping the barrier and dog-piling on him). Things got so nasty at that game that police riot squads were dispatched to guard the dugouts in the final inning - though I admit it pales in comparison to the Malice at the Palace.
Cantona against that Crystal Palace fan should be on here, if only for THAT press conference.
I’m here assuming that would be top spot.
He should have hit Matthew Simmons harder......
Maybe the grealish one from few years back. I'm sure I saw a coach get shot by a fan in Argentina this season
when the seagulls
folllow the trawler
it's because they think that sardines will be thrown into the sea
@@grrinc that's impossible the malice at the Palace was too crazy
Malice in the Palace reminded me of the glory days of WWF and ECW
And even before that. Jim Cornette has many stories of riots where he was managing in many places around the world.😂
For 75 years, I have never seen anything like this.
That will go down. As the worst. On Any of these kinda of lists.
Yep
Smh. Comparing fake fighting to real thing
Lesson learned: Never show attitude on the athletes, it will only get worse easily.
So obvious
The Malice at the Palace! 😬
It’s funny 80s and 90s NBA was known as the most physical era but the biggest fight happened in 2004.
The league changed a lot of rules after that too
@@datsapaddlin - it also made one player to change his name, too.
The 1950s, '60s, and especially the '70s were even more physical and violent. And there used to be several fights that involved fans each season.
Lesson learned: Never pick a fight with an athlete because they can kick your butt.
like actually 🤯
Depending on what was said or did I’d take the ass beating. 🤣
I would not want to pick a fight with anybody in the UFC. It wouldn’t end well.
@@vanessastegall maybe not, but again… depends on what was said or done, if someone hits my gf or whatever yeah I’m
Swinging on rocky i dont care if I get destroyed lmao. There is some things as guys you shouldn’t ignore. No matter how muscular
Someone is, everyone has a weakness sir. Especially the big dudes in the ufc, they have to be taught by lil dudes to essentially learn how to fight again because with all that muscle and weight it can tire anyone out that isn’t necessarily trained on how to fight without using to much stamina.
@@whitewolfcrowley6550 I agree.
Watchmojo I know you're gonna be shocked, but you need to know this.
There are sports events being held outside of North America too!!
No way! I agree though I know that’s where they are based but Jesus could do a bit more research. Might be interesting for the North American audience too, to see other sports crazy moments
They "need" to know that?
Where is Eric Cantona kicking a fan? That’s classic!
unfortunely, they are more biased towards North American sports
ask yo mum
@@ihabammoury2879 Hearing that commentator say like "no other rivalry in any sport" and all that made me chuckle. Sitting here watching and I'm like this guys never heard of Rangers or Celtic xD
Eric cantona karate kicking a fan mid game was hilarious
Ten Cent Beer Night deserves a spot on this list. Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers players fighting drunk fans who were invading the field. Never seen anything else like it.
A tennis player was literally STABBED BY A FAN and you didn’t put it in this list. Seriously your sports videos only include North American sports. Do more research
Cry
You do realize that this channel is North American based? Soo, it’s not that shocking that this consists of sports that are popular in North America. Not sure how it’s hard concept to grasp.
i’d say that’s too extreme
I mean the video is titled "Athletes Clashed with Fans," not the other way around.
@@Luke-cu7bf 🔔 🔚
The Jeffrey Maier incident seems like the nicest non violent player vs fan highlight on this list ⚾️
Where is Eric Cantona? He really should be on this list
IKR ? Was hoping to see him here.
@@paulstokowski1466 There must be any point that didn't qualify him xD
@@javimarquez13 Nah... WatchMojo simply doesn't know a lot about sports in overall.
@@paulstokowski1466 Many Europeans don't care about baseball, so at least some football content should be listed
They also don't know much past 1970s either.
Am I the only person that remembers Vernon Maxwell jumping into the stands, and beating the crap out of a fan? It was way before Malice at the Palace.
Cantona's kung-fu kick on the Crystal Palace fan should have been in here; resulted in a 9-month ban! But it didn't happen in America, so I guess it's like it never happened
But it was unexpected at that time
Fans can be wild sometimes, but Malice At The Palace in the NBA was *crazy.* It changed the NBA.
It became less edgy
Was present at #6. Absolutely insane. Then they blamed their behavior on going to Cubs game before.... Pathetic dudes.
However, Malice in the Palace was MIND BLOWING.
Need to put more distance between fans and players.Wallace did not even get suspended 1 game. His push started the whole thing. Sissy cannot take a hard foul
You want to see mind-blowing, check out Game 3 of the Pistons-Warriors playoff game at Golden State in 1977.
As a cubs fan I’m still ashamed how we treated bartman
At least the Cubs organization made amends to him years later. I was surprised by that
I am from Miami Florida, I remember watching the game and that catch by him cost the Cubs to win against the Marlins, and I felt bad for the guy. That year should have been the Cubs World Series victory breaking that "curse of the goat"
I still think first and foremost Moises Alou was not a well regarded defensive left fielder so I don't think he catches that ball anyway but I also think if he doesn't react the way he did and just went back to his spot in left field the Cubs would have won.
@@dustinniebruegge4739 but he was right under it and the ball fell with in reach of Bartman. If he weren't there then Alou would have made that play
I can't be the only person upset that the players got punished for exercising self-defense.
The Bartman Incident is such a perfect example of scapegoating. Poor guy’s life was ruined, and the key is it would’ve been the SECOND out.
The Cubs blew that game/series on their own merit. Happy they extended the olive branch.
This... This is why I never became a sports fan. People just can't enjoy the games without getting angry and acting like morons. When I was young I remember my dad going crazy and screaming at the TV over sports events. I've seen fights in workplaces over sporting talks... It's just all so stupid.
It's in the DNA
Steve Bartman was done wrong. The Cubs lost that playoff series to the Marlins due to the fact the Marlins were the better team !!!! Any fan would've tried to catch a alleged foul ball .
Punishment was so soft back in the days. If stuff happens like that today, expected 5 years + in jail and/or a huge fine.
That’s back when everyone wasn’t sensitive and soft lol
@@user-jz2tw8fg2s 😂
Threw a folding chair breaking her nose. Sentenced to a work program and anger management classes 🙄
It is not soft at all. It is a big circus
How could you not include the Eric Cantona Kung Fu kick incident?
because really the video is american athletes clashing with fans
@@ChampTalos should be called when American athletes clash with fans then 🤷🏻♀️
@@jozefable No it shouldn't
The most memorable Pistons game I ever went to. Thanks Dad
A fan tries to hug seau, accidentally tackles him and it gets #5. Monica Seles literally got stabbed and not even a honorable mention?? Seriously??
It's a shame that it faded black that quickly
Malice at the Palace. You just had to be there 😖
I'd love to see an updated list of athletes who had their careers cut short
Charles Barkley said every game a player should get to pick one big mouth fan outta the crowd and beat crap outta him. That would be great 😂.
The hockey ones always look so dangerous - with their skates on and having to go over the glass they've usually got their feet flailing at some point... seems like it'd be so easy to cut a gash in to one of your own teammates or coach.
Does watchmojo realise that other sports exist other than baseball, ice hockey, American football and basketball? Eric Cantona attacking a fan is one of footballs most famous incidents and it wasn’t on this list! Look at other sports other than those predominantly played in North America 🙄🙄
Stop crying
@@Luke-cu7bf Go home
Exactly. I kept waiting for Cantona‘s kick to be number one. I should have known better. Fun fact: I just read an interview with Cantona who said he wishes he kicked the fan harder. 😉😊
@@Luke-cu7bf you’re hard
I like that fan in the front row just casually watching the fight and drinking his beer 3:30
As mixed reviewed as the Malace at the Palace may be, nobody can deny THAT WAS ENTERTAINING AS HELL!!! 😆
Whatever happened to, you know…buying a ticket, coming to the stadium, sitting your ass down, and shutting the hell up and watching the game?
If you poke the bear long enough, he’s gonna bite you.
Why every athlete and fan act like idiots? This world is so cruel.
Eric cantona
That father and son team is DANGEROUS 😮
I highly advise watching Malice At The Palace on Netflix cause it shows how it went down and how quickly it escalated.
how cantona's kung fu kick to a fan isnt on this list baffles me
And one of the most notorious--and worst--incidents was the 1972 Ohio State at Minnesota men's basketball game, where Minnesota fans joined their players in attacking the Buckeyes, putting three of their players in the hospital.
That's Wild
The absolute creepiest thing is that Bartman and Jared Fogle look like twins
What about Eric Cantona? When this French footballer was playing for Manchester United against Crystal Palace on 25th January 1995, he was sent off for kicking Crystal Palace defender Richard Shaw, who'd been continuously marking him throughout the game. As he was wealking off, he launched a kung-fu kick against Crystla Palace fan Matthew Simmonds, who'd run doen 11 flights of stairs to confront and shout abuse at Cantona. As a result of the incident, Cantona faced disciplinary action from both Manchester United and the FA, and was initially sentenced to 2 weeks in prison at a criminal hearing. After being freed on bail pending an appeal, his sentence was commuted to 120 hours community service, which was spent coaching children at Manchester United's training ground.
You should've added the infamous line during Tie Domi's fight "watch the lawsuit Tie watch the lawsuit!!!"
Need more sports from other countries. Pete van zyl tackling a ref in rugby union comes to mind
1 of the many reasons I just stopped going to sports events
Same, only on special games
Watch small-town sports events on and off court or field its crazy!
The Malice at the palice was BS, if a fan threw a drink on me... i woulda went after them too.....
Big clash
Used to happen all the time in pro basketball, especially during the '70s and earlier decades. Some examples you should be able to find here are 1977 Pistons at Warriors playoffs (back when Detroit was in the Western Conference) and 1987 Warriors at Jazz playoffs. Also during the 1987 playoffs, Boston's Kevin McHale had an incident with a fan in Milwaukee.
Don't forget the Philadelphia fans flooding the floor while Darryl Dawkins went at it with Maurice Lucas during Game 2 of the 1977 NBA Finals, plus referee Richie Powers being attacked by a Boston fan during the second overtime of Game 5 of the 1976 Finals. Also, the Celtics' Cedric Maxwell fighting a fan at courtside in Philadelphia during the 1981 Eastern Conference Finals, Game 6.
A more recent example involved Houston Rocket Vernon Maxwell going several rows into the stands to punch a fan who was heckling him in Portland in 1995.
Mike Milbury beating a man with his own shoe in the stand tops my list. Why oh why would anyone start a fight with the Boston Bruins?
New jack stabbing intended and mallace in the palace.
Well atleast these fans didn't get blown to bits for no reason *cough* Vegeta *cough*
The video needs to be retitled to 'North American athletes clash with fans'. Would've saved my time
no surprise that Malice at the Palace was gonna be #1, the Palace of Auburn Hills is now demolished and the Pistons now play at Little Caesars Arena with the Red Wings
Everything was only hockey and baseball, until Malice at the Palace 😂
What about the tennis player who was stabbed in the back? That should have been on the list if not that then honorable mention.
If your going to show something, you should explain what you showed.
When's WatchMojo gonna fight their fans ? 🤣
😄😄😄💯💯💯😄😄😄
Thumbnail gave it all away
Bruh he didn’t even jump for that ball 😂
You forgot the Cubs Dodgers fight where the dodger bullpen went into the stands because fans were throwing beer at them
Malice at the palace is number one right?
Number 2 and 1 was brutal, frightening and exciting, but these events made me who I am.😌😌😌💕💕💕😃😃😃
I guess you'll have a separate list for incidents in football. For there have been many clashes between players and fans.
Crazy
What about Vernon Maxwell fight with a fan?? Literal footage of him connecting with him too lol and was the biggest suspension in nba history priory to the malice at the plaice if I believe.
#9 if that kid interfered with a Yankee, the fans would’ve beaten the crap out of him, and needed police protection
We love emotion in sport
I know this is one is between two athletes and not a fan, but when Tod Bertuzzi beat up another hockey player, that was horrible
I knew Malice at the Palace would be #1
The Braves-Padres brawl in 1984 was also pretty bad that involved fans
How do you get sentenced to parole?
I've seen highlights of many more NBA games where the players jumped into the fans.
I mean what else was gonna be number one other than Malice At The Palace
No wrestlers on this list?
Maybe WatchMojo should do a top 10 of wrestlers who Clashed With Fans !
3:30 - "Watch the lawsuit, Tie, watch the lawsuit!"
Classic watch mojo america is the whole world
Disappointed that it was only US sports that was in this video. There are plenty more in sports from around the world such as the incident with Eric Cantona
4:50 The Royals team came in swanging them hands! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Eric Cantona should've been #1
Most famous mallace at the pallace
Or when Cleveland Browns fans threw all the beer bottles on the field
Dear Detroit Pistons, let go of that late 80s early 90s bad boys thing, it's over! Signed, a fan of all the legends y'all went after ( y'all know who I'm talking about)
We all knew what number 1 would be. 😂😂😂
Higher walls or barricades are needed lol
I usually don't pull the race card but a WHOLE DAMN HOCKEY TEAM goes into the stands and it's number 2!?!
I think the funniest thing about the Bruins incident is that Mike Milbury now says fighting should be removed from the game. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Who's here after the Ted Lasso episode where Isaac attacked that abusive spectator?
If Malice in the Palace isn’t #1 I’ll be amazed
It’s funny seeing Peter Mcnabb on her considering I watch him being such a mild mannered commentator lol
Although it’s more of entertainment, CM Punk getting caught live on Monday Night Raw hitting a fan could’ve been an honorable mention.
Artest should have never been allowed to play in the NBA again after that.
He sounds like a young Richard Dreyfuss.
Tie Domi could have a list of his own
malice at the palace is what happened when you mixed chaos with crazy. Chaos are the sprawl between the players and the out of control fan. Crazy is ron artest.
What about the incident in 1989 or 1990 in which there was a boxing match and one of the fighters was getting the worst of it, so his mother jumped into the ring and started whacking the other guy with one of her shoes?
Wow dude
I expect Malice at the Palace to be #1
Watches video
Yup, called it
It's stupid that the people that watch the game can change the outcome of the game in baseball
