it’s the autopilot hydraulic pump- it runs constantly and then hydraulic valves direct the flow of oil to which ever side of the autopilot ram requires it to make the necessary course change 👍

Well what the heck happens if you accidentally fall overboard? Do you have any kind of emergency transponder on your person that would help you get rescued? Or would the water temperature kill you before such a rescue?
