  • We go Solent sailing with Co-owner Ben Price and crew onboard Muscadet, a stunning Contessa 32, he uses for both cruising and racing. From her home mooring at Haslar, Gosport UK, we headed out into the cold Solent water for a sail in brilliant winter sunshine.

Beautiful, my grandfather’s was the Contessa 32 previously owned by Jeremy Rogers, amd the only one built with a wheel not a tiller

Crewed a co32 for a time. In my > 50 years at sea never knew a boat with an easy and smooth moition at sea as this one. Steering down big waves is fun, she never surprises you.

That’s a nice boat. Had to laugh about the reversing comments. I have endeavour 32 and it’s exactly the same problem! Totally random backing out of my slip if I go left or right.

I wish they had more Contessa 32 boats on this side of the pond (Atlantic Canada to be more precise). I've seen a couple 26s but the 32s are harder to come buy. I really dream of one day being able to buy a Contessa 32 for my family and I to go explore the province. I even sometimes entertain my self with the dream of flying to the UK just so I could buy a Contessa 32 there and sail it back home across the Atlantic, but I feel I'll never have enough experience to be comfortable doing a crossing like that. Anyhow, thanks for the lovely video.

Never say never. Nothing stopping you sailing across the Atlantic. If you want to do it, do what you need to do to do it

I agree Contessa 32 is a rare boat over here in Atlantic Canada.
You could consider a Bayfield 32, or a full keeled Alberg.
They are equally seaworthy, but don’t have the legendary history….

I love the Contessa 32 as well..I have a small sailing boat but when I see her in videos in CZcams or so I dream of buying myself one...but its not probable I do it, since for her length it means more montly mooring fees....I wish you bought one, though, so may fulfill your dreams.

I'm having similar thoughts, looking at contessa 32 and Westsail 32, some westsails all over the world, its what dreams are made of, I hope you do it one day, I may bump into you in the Pacific somewhere sometime on a round the world epic......

It survived Fastnet 1979. That’s enough for me to make it the boat I want to own. However like others have said they are few over this side of the pond.

Pretty boat! Way too deep of draft for the Upper Chesapeake. Very small cockpit.

Il ne déplace pas d'eau en naviguant ; celà résume bien la performance de sa carène. 😊

Whilst indeed a fine seaboat, my 30' Albin Ballad had the edge on cockpit layout and ergonomics.

I wan one! Q: if you cant reverse, how do you put it in mine place in the marina? How wide need to be this place? Its any particular year i should look for? Actually i have a motor boat but last moth i when to a sailboat course and last week to a trip in Greece with a hanse 418 and i felt in love with sailing. Thanks so much for any tips regarding the Contessa 32. Best regards.
