    Thank you for posting this excellent video. Helicopter jumps are the best, I made 7 or 8 from a Chinook and 1 from a Huey in Recondo School. God Bless and stay safe to all Airborne personnel friendly to the USA.

    Great video man. I only got to make a couple of helicopter jumps, but they were pretty awesome. Daytime, Hollywood from a Chinook..... and toggles even? That's a pretty great jump.

    LRS 104TH INF here. I made many of these jumps at Ft. Indiantown Gap. My wife witnessed one. She, and a group of wives watched. The CH47 kicked up so much wind on take off, my wife said it felt like being in a hurricane

    So how does it work does the yellow rope pull your shoot when it comes off or do you have to pull it? Btw I have mad respect for you god bless you and everyone else in the military

    • @crivyeller9845
      @crivyeller9845 Před 3 lety +7

      (Static line jumps) The yellow cord is the Static Line. It automatically pulls the chute out and then breaks off after exceeding the distance (I’m not 100% sure, but the yellow cord is secured to the top of the canopy by some rigging set up, I’m gonna assume it includes rubber bands so it can snap away).
      The reserve is the only parachute you can pull to deploy (red handle by the abdomen)
      Free fall jumps require a manual pull/deploy by the jumper for the main parachute

    Kinda rare to jump out of a Chinook. And I see why now. Not saying these guys aren't badass but the bird could have put everyone in it down on the ground faster than jumping.

    • @MM22966
      @MM22966 Před 3 lety +2

      It's not rare at all. It just depends what unit/base you are jumping at.

    • @mouthwash884
      @mouthwash884 Před rokem +1

      Airborne operations are antiquated and not used in actual combat anymore. However, while sure, the CH-47 can land quickly, it would be vulnerable to enemy fire while dropping off the personnel, this gets the bird in and out of the airspace as quickly as possible while delivering a fast reaction force.
