- Hey guys,
I was super fascinated to do this interview with Fady. For the first time in the history of The Gambia, chocolate is produced. Isn't this wonderful? In this video, we talked about FHbites, its inspiration and production process. Definitely a video you should watch to get inspired.

Hi everyone. I am Fady Hocheimy in the interview with my sister Isatu.
First, let me say thank you to all the people that see the positive in this.
Now let me clarify to those who have transformed this into another conversation about race and whether I am African or Gambian enough. Usually, I do not respond to these comments, but I do understand that we are all a product of our societies and we live with stereotypes. These stereotypes are founded on our own experiences and how the media decides to shape us. Therefore, let me share who I am.
My great grandfather migrated to Gambia in 1920. My grandfather was born in Gambia in 1932. My father was born in Gambia in 1954. And I was born in Gambia in 1980. This alone should make me Gambian enough. But what makes people who they are? Anyone can hold any passport (citizenship) today in any country in the world; does that make them part of the fabric of that society? I believe what makes somebody who they are for that country is what they do, and the love they have for it. This interview about chocolate is not for me to become famous. I have my own company and I employ around 180 Gambians. This chocolate-making adventure started as a hobby and still is. The only reason I share this story is for Gambians (Africans) to know that we can produce our own chocolate instead of exporting the Cocoa to Europe and buying back the chocolate from them. West Africa exports 70% of the world’s Cocoa, yet we only get 3% of the chocolate profits. Another reason I share this is to let Gambians know that it is possible to grow Cocoa here. This was never thought of in this beautiful country. Making chocolate will always be an amazing hobby for me, even if I do not make a business out of it. But now others can see the potential and hopefully follow through.
The love I have for this small beautiful nation is unimaginable. It has given me my life, it has given me a wife (Black skin) and my kids. I will retire and die in this country. Does this make me Gambian enough? I know most people will see my skin tone and judge. Africans have different shades of skin tone; from North Africa all the way to South Africa. If I had written this comment in the local language of Wolof, would that make me Gambian enough?
I write all this not because I am upset but because I would like the world to change how we see each other and relate. I think we should shy away from stereotypes and embrace our diversity, whether we live in Africa, America, Europe, or Asia. What you do for your country is what makes you belong to it. I believe we are all citizens of this world and we should work to make it better. Thank you Isatu for sharing this story.
@Fady Hocheimy i am a Gambian and i support you 💯💯. continue doing this great initiative and bring more money to Gambia economy we proud of you. haters gonna hate
We are proud of you 👍 Keep up the good work!! I’ll definitely try it wen i visit home..
Wow, that was a mouth full. Honestly those of us from America do have our bias views. When i saw you i felt some type of way but after i heard you talk i quickly changed my mind. Anyways thanks for the information i appreciate your knowledge and i respect Isatu, she is wonderful and trying to include everyone.
@fady. You don't need to justify to anyone, how gambian you are.
“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
Us Africans have to move past this tribal mindset. Let us judge people by their actions not how they look.
@Fady Hocheimy WELL SAID & I applaud you for your LOVE! Thank you and I’d like to meet with you while in The Gambia 🇬🇲. My logo is candy 🍭 . I will be in touch. In fact, I will invite you to my events.
I am known as Shi-Shi B! The Cultural Concierge.
Thank you Isatu. Keep up the great work you doing. Cocoa grows in Gambia. Let’s grow it and make our own chocolate. African cocoa, African chocolate!
Exactly. Cocoa and many other things can grow in The Gambia. Not enough people venture into Agriculture
@@investbuild2750 I am coming to 🇬🇲. I am investing in the youth, they are #OurFuture . The youth need to work in areas of agriculture, manufacturing and distribution. I can’t wait to get my feet back on Gambian ground.. #GambiaGotGems... @isatubokmsvlogs I know you’re away but we need a meeting ... I got some great ideas. I will be back in 12 days!!!
I visited his compound some two months ago. He's an amazing guy
Thanks Isa for creating a great content...I also encourage Gambians to venture into coco farming to assist our brother get the sufficient raw products to burst his company, and as well for export which can add value to our economy...Thanks Isa.
This is very impressive. It's good to see enterprises like this being highlighted so the world can see what Afrika, The Gambia in this case, has to offer.
I love it. You can learn anything on the internet. Thank you for this. Gambia should definitely get more seriously about large scale agriculture and agroprocessing, be it rice, cocoa farming, pineapple, mango processing into dried mangoes and juice, strawberries, etc. I will definitely be venturing into agriculture.
Gambian chocolate fantastic, looking forward to try some.
Isatou thank you very much, my granddad and his grand dad worked together in Kaur and Bansang , omg this world is very small
Really small world
That's y i like to watch your channel!! An this man is a Gambia like any other one out there.black and white business let support all because they pay taxes an that hlep us to move that country.

Thanks Isatu!
Really proud of Gambia!
As Fady said, be curious, do something.
Be inventive!
The possibilities are endless.
Wow! this is amazing sounds like am the last person seeing this video, this a huge plus for Gambia rather than the ones that only exploit & never give back. Though am new to the channel but I love what am seeing.
Am here for it
That my girl. Keep it up . I'm surly going to get some😘 Gambia ♥️
Amazing
Love the intro
Why the hate when the guy is even encouraging people to come and learn the business. Like it or not he ain’t going anywhere.. there is more space for everyone, no one is holding any body back. This guy is putting more money in Gambia economy unlike those other people who take from us and exploit our people.
🙌🏾🙌🏾💯
Big up Isatu!
Anyone remember Sunukerr??
Where can i buy it in the Gambia?

Hi Fady, how long does it take to plant a cocoa seedling till it bears fruit, how many years will it take for it to bear fruit? Thanks.
Have Fady a Bigger cocoa Farm anywhere in The Gambia, if not, when are you to have one, if yes , how old is the cocoa Farm? Thanks.
Hi Baboucarr. The seedling will take about 3 years to start bearing fruit, given the right conditions. You can always follow fhbites on facebook and message me there. Will send you more details. Thanks.
@@fadyhocheimy Thanks Fady, and later. Bye.
Hi there everyone I'm trying to figure out my roots and find my tribe can you help me? what tribe in gambia the last name Bass?
Hello
That's amazing. I am not really sure but we do have the surname Bass
Can stevia or monk fruit be used to make the chocolate? I'd like to purchase some of the 85%. I'm in the Bahamas. Can you deliver?
You can add anything you want and experiment with chocolate. Please follow fhbites on facebook and message me there for more info.
@@fadyhocheimy Thank you. And I just read your comments on nationality. We in the islands have family from diverse nations. My paternal grandfather's from Jamaica, and grandmother from Bahamas. My mother's from Switzerland and I was born in England. I get insults from all over... even from folks like Juliet Ryan who seems to think mixed race people should not exist. Well, I just love the person I am and I love life on this island. I think that what you are doing in the Gambia is really cool, trailblazer. Peace and love to you, my brother over yonder!
Hello my daughter 😀 Please let your President know not to sell the cocoa to Switzerland
I would :)
Still ain't Gambia never just a European family that migrated but it's still nice to have something made in Gambia
Download sense please
And that ladies and gentlemen is what a buffer class is called set in place by the British #cuckoo and yet still thriving even now. Long after communique has been lost, the program will continue as a self functioning organism.... #enclave Interesting indeed.
Aren't you in South Africa?
Yes I am
This is why I say indigenous Africans...not those families who arrived by plane 100 years ago and the families never left. This is the same thing happening across Africa like South Africa, Rwanda where the Indians developed the so called first African phone...negative. The Mara phone...yet the face is "you know who", stop the lies and exploitation of a people. Lift the indigenous African people up by giving living wages across the continent.
Can some melanated Gambians grow cacao and make chocolate for sale and export?
CZcams wasn't created by any melenated person, but you still actively use it.
Please let us stop this hypocrisy and gatekeeping about who can do what in africa.
