A big thank you to my patrons for supporting me and allowing me to keep on creating these videos!
Love this!! I do wonder though sometimes i want to go on these off the beaten path but afraid of language barriers... one good thing about touristy places was that you can find English speaking people easily. Would you recommend to someone who doesn’t speak japanese?
Absolutely! I've gotten many messages from viewers who didn't speak any Japanese but thoroughly enjoyed their time going to more local places! You'd be surprised at how much you can get by with just gestures!
If you are reading this and have experienced something similar, comment and let us know your story down below!!
I have been to many places in Japan where there are only locals. I don’t speak Japanese. You can get by with google maps. Food wise there is always the plastic models outside the restaurant. And picture menus. People are very nice and polite. Love travelling in Japan.
I went to many places in Japan where they didn't speak much English. Generally when both parties are willing to put in the effort you can get a long way with just hand signals and gesticulation. Obviously you can't have a conversation or anything like that so it can feel a little solitary sometimes but Japanese people are so polite these small interactions are worth a lot!
@@internationallyME i absolutely agree.
The vast majority of signs in subtitled in Romanji, so you can easily read directions and names as a westerner.
Google translate can also be helpful, but of course should not be expected to deliver THE perfect solution ^^
There are also small portable devices that translate spoken words fairly well !
And like all the other people said before:
A fair lot of the locals are willing to help you out :)
What portable device(s) do you recommend? I've only use Google Translate twice luckily.
Happy Sunday everyone! Back with part 2 ;)

Hi Angela, I hope all is well :)
Go forth drunkenly reminds me of a drinking game my friends & I would play while we were in Japan. We would love going on adventures & visiting new neighborhoods, cities & towns, & we would play what we called the combini game, which is basically getting something to drink from each combini we passed while we sightsee & wander around the neighborhood, city or town. We would sometimes get very drunk haha & find different food/street food to eat & just have a great time along the way haha aaaah happy times. missing Japan
The quality of goods being sold were amazing! I love that things can be sold without anyone being present. It just speaks volumes.
Love these hidden spots, wish my Japanese was better so I can explore more. Agree that temples can start looking the same after a while. I got overwhelmed wandering around Kyoto.. it felt like iwas trapped in a temple tourist theme park after a few hours.
Hi Angela. Nice walk in amazing city, a lovely video with gorgeous views. Thank you for the captivating video!
Your video is always nice to watch and have thingrs to learn even for Japanese person like me. Arigato!🙏✨
Japan's just so nice, glad I started a new life in here
So calm and quiet to just breath and take in the beautiful scenery.
I also love the idea of an ‘honesty store ‘
here in japan . the one looks so delicious
I’ve been through Odawara Station many times. Never knew these places were close by
Yay happy to see part 2. I've been enjoying these trips around tokyo a lot. I sure hope I can visit japan someday been on my bucket list for ages. :)
This was so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this hidden gem. All these places makes me want to travel all over Japan.
There's something for everyone to see and experience on your channel. That is an incredible feat!
Thank you!
Absolutely love your videos!
Tokyo is on my bucket list of places I want to visit. Thanks for showing these places as well.😊
Loved part 2, thanks so much for sharing 😊😊😊
Was a little late to your video but always enjoyed them like catching up to an old friend. Your informal & personal commentary and interesting content always brings a smile to brighten my day.
loved the video WE need moree!! cant wait for the next video!
Love it. I've been through here many times before. I even got off one time but never went farther than maybe 2 or 3 blocks from the station cause I realized it was wrong stop for me lol (was still new to Japan). I love these videos. You need to be a tour guide on the side lol. I'd like to see an update on your school and hows it doing during this crazy time. Keep these videos coming.
Brilliant as per usual.
This is a great video with perfect commentary! 👍
It was great to see the kids playing in the street and a game that I also use to play. In Germany it is also common for people to sell surplus vegetables in front of their door and to have an Honesty Box for people to leave some money.
Thanks for sharing about these nice places, Angela ! I hope to be able to travel again this summer !
Beautiful sunrise 👍🏻
Love this so much! Literally travelling through your videos haha
As always amazing ありがとう😊
Thanks for sharing these off the beaten path discoveries with us. For my next visit to Japan I plan on going to ride the Choshi Dentetsu in Chiba Prefecture.
It's amazing always!
Loved this!
Thanks for this beautiful video. Miss Japan so much. Will find the other videos in this series. And I`m now craving sake.
I love your videos!

Hi Angela 😊 Will definitely try some of these as soon as we can travel back in Japan ❤😍👍🏻🙏 and meet you also ☺️😁🤩 Thank you for sharing these! 💟
Happy that you gave Odawara some love!
Hi Angela, thank you for sharing your adventure. I feel like I'm with you on this trip 😁🤗 looking forward your next fun enjoyable adventure.
This is the Japan that I love and miss
Thanks for showing us Angela. Definitely a habit I have to travel like this.. except I do it in the USA. Only got West Tokyo among randomness off the beaten path in Japan.
Ey you're back. Part 2 oui. Will be awesome.
Really lovely Temple grounds! Thanks for the video! 🤓👋
Seems such as you really enjoy your adventure. Lovely Japan, I ❤ Japan
Yay! More off the beaten path. Yay!
Great to see you again! Fun video. I go Hiking in Kozu and Odawara every year! (Should have checked out the hidden waterfall!) Looking forward to more vids! -Rodger

Sato brewery was nice words too!!!👍🏻🍶
It's amazing!
Angela another great vlog !
So nice missed your videos
I love exploring places that are off the beaten path, but I've never heard of Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple. Thank you for the video, because I am now planning on doing a day trip from Tokyo to the temple!!
Nice! My new mantra! Go forth drunkenly!
Ohhhhh# Good to see you.
Hey there, good to see you on the new video Angela! I hope you're having a good time and staying safe out there.
Happy Birthday, Angela...a little late. I hope that you enjoyed the day. Sending you my best wishes and blessings for a happy and prosperous year to come 😽
Thanks for remembering Angel!
wow you are back, I didnt notice that. woohoo for some new Japan sightseeing vids
Hey, welcome back and thanks for this series! I find these lesser known areas that you go to fascinating.
That was an interesting lookout on the hill - The marble structure beyond the cast iron furniture caught my attention. Was that a mausoleum? 🤔
It also seems that no matter where you go in Japan, the food always looks so good... I'm looking at you Jamaican chicken burger! 😋
Yeah I think it was. The lookout point was near a cemtery!
Angela. Another great video. This video went by WAY TOO FAST!! You always got me wanting to SEE MORE! When this corona BS is over I need to go to Japan and just wander around and take lots of photos and record videos. Eat more of the delicious foods. The first and only time I was in Japan. I didn’t do enough.
Churr churr awesome video
Happy sunday 🐬
That lunch looked amazing. That yellow house looked very Victorian. You see those alot in South Carolina. Sometimes long detours are fun. I am always wear dark coats incase I get it dirty. Which is quite often. Awesome video as always.
@4:16 that looked soooo good!! I love how every corner where you go there are always nice views and delicious food 😁
Haha... maybe I am just drawn to those things unconsciously...
@@internationallyME well you've shown us that there's beauty everywhere we go, we just have to be willing to see it, thanks so much! =)
That is just so awesome. I wish the pandemic will finish soon so I can visit Tokyo in the future
Very enjoyable video 📹.. maybe I like all about japan... thank you
Thank you for your support on Patreon too, Will! Btw, you can get early access to all my new videos before they go public on CZcams!
Love this video! It's been a while since I've been to Odawara and the surrounding area, given how things are right now, but it's fun to see all the old places I remember. Thanks!
Its so cool. I sometimes do this kind of thing myself in the city that i currently live in, in a different country from japan btw. I just gaze at the google maps few days prior, discover a less known interesting place and then go off one fine leisure day😄 You'll be surprised at how such excursions would reward you, truly :)

Angela! I haven’t seen you in my subs in forever and somehow it feels like catching up with an old friend. Missed seeing you and quality content as always!
Thanks Christopher! Hope you are doing well my old friend haha :)
More videos please! And what a fancy white coat!
Second watch, still not doing the stairs, 😄😄😄😄😄 the bike ride looks fun. Would go with an electric broke though.☺☺☺☺
細い路地裏、大好きです♪
When I follow your videos, I am drawn to travel again and certainly to Japan. You help us learn while being relaxed. Your voice is like a close friend one has known for a long time and there is a mutual delight in sharing the simple and less known. I feel I could listen for a long time, then stop for a warm meal to seal the experience of learning.
Leaving products outside and trusting people to pay for it can be found everywhere in Japan. Especially when it comes to local grown produce.
Noti squad !!!
2:35 this is pretty common in North America, perhaps parts of Europe also? You can find a lot of produce stands around the countryside without anyone holding shop, just a stand and a box of money
awesome vid as usual IM
Im so hyped you’re back making videos.
I can't wait to go back and use some of ur recommendations. I want to plan a solo trip. I've been in Japan but only Tokyo so far. Saving up. What budget do you recommend for 2 to 3 weeks?
😲wish I could go someday when I grow up🥺
that's a big bite, angela :o odawara seems like a nice town to visit.
Good Exercise =)
Welcome back.
A real hero doesn't need a treat. The only treat is their wins
You are always so cheerful, love exploring Japan with you.
