- We hope you enjoy this Clifton, Bristol, UK What to see in 1 Day - Town to Clifton Suspension Bridge walking tour.
If you're wondering what to see in 1 Day, join us for this virtual tour of Clifton in Bristol, as we make our way to the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge - the symbol of the city.
We start in Victoria Square and walk through to Boyce's Avenue - site of the Clifton Arcade as well as many charming cafes, coffee shops and independent retailers such as the Primrose Cafe, Saffron, Reg the Veg and Papersmiths.
We cross the road and follow Princess Victoria Street - taking time to explore it's wealth of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, detouring along the way to discover Waterloo Street and The Mall.
Back on Princess Victoria Street, we follow it down to the White Lion on Sion Hill, where we turn right to catch our first view of the iconic Victorian Clifton Suspension Bridge.
We pass the Old Clifton Rocks Railway on our way uphill towards the toll booth at the start of the bridge. Walking onto the bridge gives us a stunning view of the Avon Gorge below on this sunny but windy day.
We continue for an even better view and wind our way up to the Clifton Observatory above St Vincent's Rocks. This site, (which houses a cave once used as a temple in ancient times - known also as Ghyston's cave or Giant's Cave) provides a stunning view of the entire span of the bridge as it straddles the Avon Gorge.

I have friends who live in Clifton and they prefer to say they live in Clifton Village rather than admit they live in Bristol, for me as a Londoner in lockdown I don’t mind where i go as long as it’s out of London, so thank you ☺️ I like thousands of others really appreciate this video, you’re bringing the world to us in these dark times
Hi there Jay Jay, what a gracious message from you. Thank you. It makes doing these video's really worthwhile. Ha ha so your friends prefer to say they live in Clifton Village rather than admit they live in Bristol, well they both have there good points to me but I can see how they'd love Clifton. So very happy to bring as much of the world to you where we can. We have lots more footage so plenty to keep you going until times get better. All the very best to you.
Living Walks I look forward to the new videos ☺️ seriously you’ve given me something to look forward to
Yes I love both Clifton and Bristol, but Bath is my favourite of the three, I’m
Leaving London later this year and was planning on relocating to Windsor but Bath is the place I’ve fallen in love with
I’ve put you on my bell alter for more videos and shared them with my friends and family stay safe
☺️😊
I'll hang my weary head in shame... I was the same with saying I lived in Clifton, just on the edge of the village, Buckingham Place and Dover Place.
I've been 23 years plus now, in Surrey.
Nothing comes close to where my soul longs to be, but reality says, you can't go full circle.
Really really enjoying all my old haunts and beautiful buildings of my humble beginnings 💜💜
Hard to believe I dragged my best friend up the Avon Gorge to the top when I was 12. , Oh, memories of my childhood and adolescence...I miss Clifton, the Downs, the trendiness (ha!, ), taking my little sister across
the Suspension Bridge ,she in her pyjamas when she should have been sleeping ......making an igloo in the Great Winter of 1963, saving the jelly beans Paul McCartney had stepped on in a concert ,selling them at school the next day ...ou sont les neiges d’antan? Elles sont ici, au Canada , mes memoires en vignettes en dessous d’un vitre comme des papillons figes ....ces memoires sont pleines de vie, elles dansent, elles chantent et j’ai le mal de mon pays ! But thank you for such a beautiful video.
How nice to hear you enjoy walking alongside us in your old hometown Alison, happy to bring a little of it back to you, sounds like you have so many happy memories. Thanks for dropping by and connecting.
I left Clifton in 1964 when my family emigrated to Canada. It will always be home. I know Bristol is a big, bustling city but this little bit of it will always be my village. Thanks especially for ending it on the Downs, where I spent so many happy days as a boy. Love this video!
Thank you so much for letting us know your link to Clifton. Sharing it with you makes doing the video's well worth while. All the best to you Jim.
Take a virtual tour of Clifton in Bristol, as we explore the bright, indie shops and cafes before making our way to the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge - the symbol of the city.

Ah you're most welcome Hani.
Good to see some walking videos outside of London. More please!
We'll be adding one or two a week now, mostly outside of London. Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy filming them Wen?
My parents had their wedding reception in Ashton court and then had photos by the suspension bridge , which was lovely 😊.
Sounds like the perfect place to have it Marie.
Cool video, enjoyed this walk up to the suspension bridge. I keep meaning to visit Bristol and do some filming but haven't managed it yet, so thanks for sharing this :)
With it's street art, waterside areas and grand crescents, there's a lot to film. You'd love it :)
Yes, I've been there once or twice in the past long before I was making these videos, and remember doing a lot of walking! It'll be nice to return one day :)
Hope you get to @@watchedwalker

Thanks for the visit Moksh, I'm pleased you liked it!
Really nice walking video. Very impressed with the dedication and commitment you have put into creating so much great content in so many different cities around the world. Great work, keep it up.
Thank you AV. I do enjoy it, so don't mind at all. Best of luck with your new channel. I enjoyed your Country sounds, a rather pleasant accompaniment to my Sunday morning cuppa. Hope to see more footage from you.
@@LivingWalks Thanks for the support. Your right about it being enjoyable to create. I'm finding making my recordings incredibly relaxing and fun. Glad you enjoyed the new post with your morning cuppa. Have a great day :)
@@AmbientVagabond - yes it gives a lovely focus to being in a place, which is relaxing in itself too I guess. I've subscribed to you and hope you'll continue.
@@LivingWalks Thank you so much for the support.
If I’m not mistaken isn’t this where Shirley Bassey’s daughter committed suicide she jumped off this bridge many years ago. It’s something that we Welsh people are very aware of. However, that negative comment outside Bristol is a beautiful city with some gorgeous landmarks.xx
That's right Ashley, it was in 1985. It's said that Shirley was so grief-stricken by the death of her daughter that she was unable to sing for six months. Thank you for dropping by, I'm pleased you enjoyed it, I do have more of Bristol here if you fancy another meander any time?
@@LivingWalks The most famous incident, was the woman who, in Crinoline days, jumped off the bridge, but floated down as the updraft of air, turned her dress into a parachute.
Oh @@MrDaiseymay ha ha, what a wonderful but of interest, I feel I should add it into a subtitle on the footage! Thanks for dropping by.
Cool
Thanks OCM, glad you like it.
@@LivingWalks No problem. Love your vids
Great 👍 video of Clifton. Well done 😁 any more of Bristol in the future ?
Hi Jeffrey, yes we have another of Bristol centre here and plan to add more too, so if you are happy to subscribe, you can see them as they are added. All the best to you.
Explore The Bristol
Yes an interesting city we found
from a certain nostalgic perspective I think English Language Centre in Clifton is the most important place in Bristol maybe in the UK.
Interesting to hear that IFahad.
@@LivingWalks I was studying there for several months.
did you use any cinematic filter or is this the final result from direct shooting of the OnePlus 3 ?
Hi there Ansel, no filter, just the phone on this occasion, we now use a gopro which we are very much happier with.

What a pleasure to hear that and to connect with you. I hope to continue to bring you as many virtual vacations as I can. Hope to stay in touch
It would help, if you could, to focus the camera on the street name signs as you turn into a new road. Gives us a chance to know where we are without having to keep scrolling down to description.
Hi Linda, thanks for the feedback, it may well be a bit up and downy for the viewer but we'll do that where possible.

Good of you to say so and to connect, we appreciate it.
Hi bristol from johnson
Thanks for connecting. We have over 100 similar walks here if you find you need another virtual walk at these times when we cannot travel. All the best to you.
vidoes a tad dark?
Yes our old camera was struggling. The Dji pocket is just perfect for us now though and we'd recommend it.
all very nice but nowhere to park
Oh is that so Graham. Parkopedia can sometimes be helpful we find. All the best to you.
Bit dark, cant see so well.
Ah yes, this was before we had the gopro, so just filmed with the phone. Hope you enjoy our more recent ones. All the best to you.
Just before Muzzle time 😷
Quite!
Looks very empty compared to London.Pretty buildings but don't think I could live there.
this area is certainly quieter than the centre of Bristol Ted, (which you can see from our footage of Bristol centre). Thanks for dropping by.
Some might say that was a positive. Who wants to be jostled at every step?
sadly now bristol has few bristolians and exudes drugs and homelessness though it still retains a kind heart.
Ah well it’s good to know that it’s retained it’s good heartedness.
