  • It was clear after the first trip to Ireland that it was necessary for the Boss Golfs (Charles Brown) to return after playing courses in 2021. An immediate plan to complete the courses around the country’s coast was initiated. Why? Because Ireland has the greatest links and finest density in the world. Therefore, the Ireland story would have been incomplete without playing the famed Southwest portion of the country. Playing golf in Ireland should be on all golfers' bucket lists. This year's trip was seven courses over four days. They included Doonbeg Golf Links, Lahinch Golf Club, Ballybunion Golf Club, Dooks Golf Links, Tralee Golf Links, Waterville Golf Links, and Old Head Golf Links. A review of each course will post over the coming days. Last year's trip was eight days and fifteen courses. Day 1 - First Course: Doonbeg Golf ClubDoonbeg Golf Club was the first course of this year’s trip and only one hour from Shannon Airport. Transportation to Doonbeg is fast and easy to navigate. It took two hours from landing to arrive at the course. Doonbeg is beautiful and was the perfect start to this Ireland golf excursion. The course was originally designed by golf great Greg Norman and later masterfully redesigned by Martin Hawtree. The course has massive dunes and beautiful seaside views. The opening stretch starts off over relatively flat terrain, perfect for legs just off a Trans-Atlantic flight. The course is fairly straightforward with no demanding blind shots. Each hole is well designed and utilizes the dunescape well. If flying into Shannon Airport, I recommend Doonbeg as an opening course to your golf adventure. Doonbeg is a can’t miss course when in the Southwest of Ireland.

Charles - Outstanding focused content! My brother completed the near exact itinerary in September over 6 days - (No Old Head but Adare Manor) They had great weather - just terrific winds. Their travel partner was Carr Golf. Ballybunion seemed to be group favorite. You seem to have the course to yourself in the shots! Hope to make my golf pilgrimage to Ireland...just have to target a region.

I did a trip to Ireland the year prior that's also in my videos. Ireland is the best. Ballybunion was a great course I slightly like Lahinch more but I flip back and forth between the two. Thanks for commenting. I hope you get to Ireland.
