I can tell you being someone who played regional tournaments during goat format, Solemn Judgment was not used much. Goat format now is nothing like it was back then.
That’s wild to me! I started yugioh competitively in 2019 exclusively goat format so I never got to experience this golden era. What decks ran solemn back then?
@AJTBLSyugioh honestly, almost nobody I knew ran it. I believe it was probably because many people ran 7 tools of the bandit in those days might have been why.
This is actually a good example of deck building and going first mattering more than technical play. Nano made uncharacteristic misplays but wasnt punished as hard as you would be because his deck has a favorable match up. Both of your main decks are designed for turbo but you're the only one playing turbo. If you win this entire match I would give you my respect; if you lose I still respect you for paying up and posting it.
People like myself play it for the nostalgia, and I don’t want to be bothered learning 20+ years worth of cards. The format is still ever changing to some extent. You meet other good people who have fun and like to spice things up and run what they like, I for one run Blue-Eyes and have seen success at locals with it :)
There are still tourneys (weekly ones on the discord server, but also larger online ones + irl tourneys), so I wouldn't really say that this format is "dead."
There’s a ton of big goat format tournaments. Top prize being things like tablets, ps5s, switches and cp supers of cards like book of moon and other cards used in this format. Plus a ton of local shops do weekly tournaments. Regionals host events. Ours was a win a mat event and it was a light and darkness dragon match which goes for like 80-120 online.

@@BoboBreez Bobo is right, solemn wasnt really used until dark armed formats iirc
You must be an old man

Is the nanos deck he played in this series available to be viewed anywhere?
Should be in episode 1 my friend! Hope to meet you in Dallas.
@AJTBLSyugioh nice. And as long as I survive the journey I should be there!
I think the tribute was to avoid dustshoot
Yeah it likely part of the thinking
This is really fun but what is the point of playing dead formats? Is there official tournament support or just these underground duels
Hey so there is a lot of support and a large community on the goatformat discord. Check out there CZcams!
