Really nice bandsaw! That throat plate though... I just can't get past that design decision. You?
I'm with you! I think the easiest way to get it back on was to tilt the table as much as I could get it but it was still tough.
Also, just set up my new Alpha Bandsaw and 3HP BigEye table saw. Excellent fit and finish. Top quality tools. I agree with you about the bandsaw throat plate locking mechanism and the fence, but I'm not sure the throat plate even needs to be locked down and I'll likely use a single-point fence for most of my cuts. Thanks for the video.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy both saws. As for the bandsaw throat plate; I’d be concerned that not securing it and running any rough sawn stock might pull it out and brake a blade.
I found bending the 2 ends down so it has a greater angle helps it get past the casting when you rotate plate.
Thanks for the tip!
These are good videos...keep it up.
This bandsaw is on my list of considerations. You mention that alternating between low and high positions for the fence is cumbersome/time consuming. Is there another bandsaw in a similar price range who's fence is superior?
Thanks for the question. I would probably suggest, if looking for a more robust fence system, to look at something aftermarket. I think you’d be hard pressed to find this quality of a saw in its price range. The stock fence does a great job, I just found it laborious to adjust at any frequency.
Hey how do you like the 1” resaw king? Looking to get one myself for my alpha 615p!
I’ve actually haven’t had a chance to use it yet. I have 3 pallets of cedar logs air drying right now but won’t be ready for a while yet. Though i’m sure it will work excellently!
I just unboxed the same bandsaw the other day (ordered it, 4 hp 52" table saw and the g700 dust processor months ago, finally got the shop renovated). The adjustment wheel for the cut height, to raise and lower it, is it very stiff on your saw? Mine does not rotate smoothly at all.
Mine works very smoothly. You might call Harvey and inquire about it. I’ve considered one of their dust collection systems as well. But for now, my roll-around does the job.
did you contact harvey regarding this?
I just unboxed mine and its stiff so idk if that means i shouldnt have removed the oil that it shipped with
@@JayReevesCLT I was dumb and did not realize there is a knob on the back to tighten and loosen it, check to see if that is the case for you. Mine is very smooth once I realized that and loosened it. :)
