It was more of a defensive response. It's hard to explain in an all-encompassing cultural reference/translate it into something else, though. But yes in this case it's basically like a passive release response towards a stressful/scary situation instead of like, say, having a panic attack or freezing up. You can tell by his body language alone - the increase in movement (defensive/offensive) and side-stepping and looking around (at nothing) as though he's backed into a corner. It's a fight or flight method, essentially. Deflecting more crippling responses to fear by replacing it with one that can, in most cases, defend from harm.
You can tell a lot about someone's behavior based on their body language.
It is indeed interesting. I guess I was merely curious as I've not seen 'these type of responses' from people whom I know. Huh...
Yeah, it just depends. Everyone has ways of responding to the same things and I make it a hobby to study such human behavior whether I know "people like that" or not. There are ways other than knowing someone personally to see how people respond to stimuli. (Like videos such as this)
Fear and stress responses in particular are VERY interesting - some are very advantageous in moments where they actually NEED to be on their toes, and others such as freezing are very disadvantageous. But it all depends on what threat you're up against.
All in all, once you look at all humans as basically responding to the same things with just different responses built by their microculture, past experiences and nurture, you pick up a knack for it. It's very interesting!
these days people have absolutely no people skills. living on the internet and social media takes away from human interaction. either you've lived in a bubble of a neighborhood all of your life or you just don't interact with people from different walks of life...
