Rare snowy owl sighting in Orange County captivates local residents

- A rare sight in Orange County captivated onlookers as a snowy owl was discovered perched on a rooftop in a Cypress neighborhood.
The majestic creature drew plenty of spectators who brought bringing professional cameras and binoculars to catch a rare glimpse of the owl.

I’ve seen a snowy white owl just like this one in Irvine. On top of a roof of my 3 story apartment complex. It was just staring at me late in the night. Even when it wasn’t facing me, he turned his head around his body 180 degrees to look at me

This is one of the Beautiful Reasons to Replant Trees in our suburban area's and places that were burned all over Southern California ..
Don’t kid yourself about man’s pathological compulsion to completely destroy the planet.
Yep replanting trees is good but wouldn't help or bring any population of these kinds of birds to these kind of areas. To many cars, people, and other obstacles just doesn't make it a warming environment for them.
Experience tells me don't let your cat outside or small dog unattended.

I hear owls outside the back of my house every night hooting here in Temecula. I was outside early one morning it was still dark and an owl came flying towards me when it got close it flew upward I think it wanted my small dog that was outside with me.

That snowy owl has been around for years. Seen it in Anaheim all the time back in late 2000’s. Been there the whole time. It didn’t just arrive. Seen it not far from where it currently seen in cypress.

I’ve seen one face to face in Bakersfield California while picking for Almonds at work. All white thought no shades or anything else. I didn’t have my phone on me, so I could not take a picture

When I was a kid there was a bunch of lechuzas in L.A
About 9 years ago, I watched a family of these same owls grow from 3 to about 15 in the city of Highland and they stacked gofer head's on my outside table I moved 5 years ago I do miss them we became close. 👣👣👣

These are rare??? I was smoking a blunt in my car in my back yard one day and i look at the tree in front of me, and i see this owl. "Not this exact one" but i see it with her babies. She flew directly towards me making eye contact the whole time, i thought it was going to hit the windshield. She missed it by a hair, it felt like a movie.this is amazing!!!

I saw a yellow and black bird a mama bird with grub in its mouth feeding its baby birds in a nest at Pierce College in that farm area wonderful this was about 20 years ago and I will always remember it

Everyone concerned about what they can get out of this. Nobody considers the danger the bird in. It didn't get to California naturally so something needs to be done to get it back to a place it can survive. Otherwise it's dead in a few days/weeks/months.
