Badd Medicine here and its reaction time
Serving as a spin-off of The Boys by Kripke, and based on The Boys comic book story arc "We Gotta Go Now" by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The series stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn in main roles. At the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, founded by Thomas Godolkin, young adult superheroes ("supes") put their moral boundaries to the test by competing for the university's top ranking and a chance to join The Seven, Vought International's elite superhero team.
Gen V EP 1: Eight years earlier, Marie Moreau's hemokinesis surfaces when she experiences her first period, leading to an unintentional incident that results in the loss of her parents. This event strains her relationship with her younger sister Annabeth. In the present, Marie gains admission to Godolkin University, an institution for training future superheroes ("supes"). On her inaugural day, she befriends her roommate Emma Meyer and gets to know upperclassmen Andre Anderson, Luke Riordan, Jordan Li, and Cate Dunlap.
During a party, Marie intervenes to save a woman from severe bleeding caused by an accidental injury from Andre's magnetism manipulation. Despite gaining popularity on social media, Professor Richard "Brink" Brinkerhoff expels Marie to safeguard the reputations of the upperclassmen. In a later confrontation with Brink, Marie discovers he has been fatally harmed, and Luke, the culprit, embarks on a rampage with the intent to harm Marie. However, Jordan and Andre intervene to prevent the violence. As Luke regains composure, he shares a private message with Andre before utilizing his pyrokinesis in a tragic act.

There are 4 separate facilities:
1. Red River - orphanage for supes (it's where Marie is at the beginning of the episode, also it's where Stan Edgar adopted Victoria Neuman from, and we saw Teddy Stillwell there in s 3)
2. Elmira adult facility(we haven't seen it, the only info about it is from this ep, that supe orphans get sent there if they're not adopted or accepted into God U, etc.)
3. Sage Grove - that's where Stormfront and Lamplighter were testing compound V on adults
4. Woods
You guys are doing yourselves a disservice if you don't watch Diabolical after you finish these episodes.
Fun Easter egg, if you go back to the episode where hughie is checking out the orphanage, you'll actually see Marie on the screen when he's looking through it's directory, same actress and all.

Each core character superpower represents a theme that teenagers and young adults wrestle with:
- Marie - self harm
- Jordan - self identity
- Luke/Sam - rage/radicalization
- Cate - manipulation
The only exception is Andre until you realize his powers have a side effect that is somewhat hereditary.
Oh cool, that's an interesting observation. I also just started watching Gen V, so now I'm even more intrigued to watch the rest.
It is if not obvious, at least very plausible and easy to conclude, lol. Because now that I think about it, Emma isclearly symbolizes body image issues/eating disorders. She literally has to puke herself smaller to fit a body image that someone else fids more desireable.
i would say marie and emma could both be under self harm, her ed is a form of self harm
Andre is about parental pressure and emma is about self doubt

Gen V was an excellent spin off. It wasn't just a forgetablle story with side character or a cheap bait with known characters diggling on our faces.
Gen V had such an amazing first episode, and it just gets better from there! A really great addition to the Boys universe!

Gen V is such a crazy ride and does a great job of showing the humanity of each sup character. There’s some crazy crossovers later in season that tie the shows together nicely. Love both shows!

This show is amazing, Sure the first episode is the introduction to our new characters and powers, but then the story takes off in episode 2, and it only keeps getting better. The twists and turns will surprise you guys. My favorite character is Jordan, and i love Emma and Marie as well. Andre is cool to.
Just to show how good the writing for this show is they were able to find a unique way of incorporating two major disorders that are prevalent on many college campuses, cutting and bulimia. An interesting way of highlighting these conditions and the trauma associated with them.
And for some reason the show gets called “woke” for highlighting these real things that actually happen in real life, that should be hilighted every now and then. I don’t get it 😅

Great cast for sure, actually Chance Perdomo (Andre) and Jaz Sinclair (Marie) have worked together before on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (great show too btw).

On another note, I wasn’t rlly feeling it until like episode 3 or 4, but it gets exponentially better by the episode imo and by the finale I was so mad there wasn’t more!
Not every supe can regen/heal because HL had to use concealer to hide his bruise.
Remember Homelander was made in a lab versus just being a human injected with Compound V
Nah, its crazy y'all think the Emma scene was worse than season 3 Ep 1 termite scene. That scene violated my soul and after that the Boys universe can't possibly surprise me anymore.
I like the reasoning you came up with about the food in Emma’s stomach not shrinking with her. Makes perfect sense in this word.
I mean, not really. And it isn't even true.
But if we want to entertain the idea... At what point becomes the food part of your body? Our body breaks it down and takes what it needs from it, distributing it further within us. And do you have to take a shit too?
Marie getting blamed really reminded me of actual collegiate sports where the star player and his friends get caught drunk driving or doing drugs and the star athlete gets to walk away while the nobodies take the fall. A specific example would be the Curtain Call where Triple H slid down the card for years while Shawn Michaels was untouched.
I didn't realize until the end credits that Golden Boys' actor is Arnold Schwarzengger's son in real life.
I now see the resemblance. 😯

What I noticed is Jordan’s powers are so Interesting because when she is a girl she has offensive powers and when she is a guy she has defensive powers. When I watched it the first time I thought the same thing you guys did about Kate and Rouge and the gloves. Why is it just her hands? The genius of this show is how so quickly they had me almost immediately invested I these characters. I canot wait to watch these reactions this journey will be amazing!
I did not understand Jordan's powers and had to look them up because the show made it absolutely not clear at all.

Easily one of the best first episodes of any show, the way they hooked us in with Marie's powers immediately was amazing. It shocked my just as much as the intro to the boys!
While I really liked "Gen V" right off the bat, it didn't grab me the way "The Boys" did. *However* --- by the end of the first season, I was ALL IN. It just gets better and better and better.

Got a few things to say here. First off, I’m happy to see you guys are finally onto this show. Secondly, Clancy Brown’s character isn’t the dean. Thirdly, when we see Patrick Schwarzenegger’s character, which we will (minor spoiler), he doesn’t say his father’s famous line of “I’ll be back.”
Also, not sure if you caught it, but the character Maverick is the sun of Translucent (from the first season).

The reason i prefer you guys over other reactors, its that you guys place the content screen big enough for us who are watching from a mobile phone to be able to catch a glimpse of the content. Unlike other reactors who show their whole face and make the content screen they are reacting to a small box in the corner that we can barely see. Thanks for being thoughtful of that part.
