    I know someone who went to Findhorn. I am interested in the portuguese, german and italian ones you show in the video. My main interests are oriental art and culture, hiking, Yoga, the Himalayas, music(specially indian instruments like Sitar and Tampura). Would be nice to share those interests with
    people in these communities and to be part of a retreat, workshop, experience of such themes, hobbies at these places

    Thank you for sharing these forward thinking villages. Sadly I've found living among folks who think similarly to myself to be a bit unfulfilling. As a teacher I prefer to walk among and share my views with those yet seeking a balanced way of living. We can all participate in healing ourselves and our environment while finding joy in doing so. Be well.

    I would love to come to Damanhur! It’s my dream to be part of a spiritual based community. Is amplified electric music allowed as part of artistic expression there? What would you recommend to someone to start preparing? How much money is needed to join and do you have to earn an outside income if you become a citizen to pay for your housing or are there options to work to sustain and better the community for everyday necessities?

    • @celastrinarebecka
      @celastrinarebecka  Před rokem +2

      Hello! The artistic expression is as varied as humans on this planet, even if something doesn't exist yet there's always the openness to explore new things, so yes :) First of all I would recommend to visit the webpages damanhur.org and damanhur.travel and also the youtube channel of Damanhur, these sources in themselves gives a lot of answers and insights. We have citizens who work both outside and inside of the community, when working inside it's in our associations or own businesses. There is however the possibility for people to come to start out doing some work exchange if that is what you mean :) If you want to know more you can find information on the website

      Dear Oleg, thank you! It depends of what kind of work you have. In Damanhur the works "inside" are works that are part of various associations or damanhurian companies, like the school, the agricolture and many other activities. If you work for these companies of course you can live on that, but if you choose you can also work outside.
      Much love 🥰

    I'm really interested in Damanhur, However I have a few questions. Is money used in Damanhur? To be a citizen to you need to follow a specific religion or spiritual path? Are there laws? like what's the view on reactional substances?
    Do you make a house? Or "buy" one? what about taxes? I know that's a lot of questions but I'm very curious! Thank you ahead of time if you do answer!

    • @celastrinarebecka
      @celastrinarebecka  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you for all these questions, I'll try to answer them as best as possible :) Money is used in Damanhur. We have several types of citizenships or ways to participate, in Damanhur we have a spiritual path, called the school of medit-action, but there is an option to be a citizen without being a part of the school. We don't have laws but we have a constitution with norms that is regularly updated and reviewed by all the citizens. In our school of thought we don't use any min altering substances, to achieve altered states of consciousness we use meditation and other techniques. The houses that people live in in Damanhur are owned by our associations, meaning that we all "own" them. But citizens can also have privately owned houses if they want. We pay taxes in accordance to the Italian law. Then we have a system in which the citizens living in central damanhur in Italy (we have citizens living all over the world) are voluntarily giving money each months to community services like our school, healthcare, our newspaper, the Temples and so on :)

      I fell in love with Ithaca when I visited one day I ended up not leaving until 6 months. What was the first place I felt at home everything was much more expensive than I'm used to but it's like you can actually see where the tax money and whatnot is going it's going back into the communities and there was so much more resources available for me and my children. Coincidentally I had to leave in December because it was way too cold for me and their winter was just getting started lol.

    • @NostalgiaandChaos
      @NostalgiaandChaos Před 5 měsíci +3

      The ecovillage concept seems to embrace self-sufficiency, ecological awareness, and and communal living. While Ithica may skirt the self-sufficiency part, they do have space on the land that local organic farmers use, their homes are constructed from and use ecological techniques and practices, and they do embrace community there.
      You're not wrong about the price of living there, but I don't think they're excluded from the ecovillage definition.
