I was able to meet freddy when they played wembley in '86, it was only for a few minutes an hour before they started setting up, it was early in the morning and me and my friend at the time had been roaming around since he worked maintenance there. Freddy was with a group of people i never did recognize, definitely wasnt brian or anyone, and we just casually went up to him at this table talking to these people. He turned around and said "A bit early are you?" and without hesitating he immediately shook our hands and asked us if we'd be at the show later. Meanwhile the posse is staring us down haha. We talked about the weather and i showed him a picture of my cat that i'd always carried around with me, he took the picture and said "Well after this i may just have to steal the little gal" and looked at me all serious with his sassy raised eyebrow, then started laughing. Asked him for an autograph and he said he didnt have a pen but said a quick hug would suffice, and suffice it did. I never got the picture of my cat back but i don't mind, i wish i could've told spock that Freddy Mercury stole his picture and called him a girl but he was a cat.
    I'll always remember that.

The story is, hungarians didn't have enough money to pay them for the concert. Queen agreed that they pay with making a full lenght high quality film, because they wanted to make a concert on the other side of the iron fence.
So until this recording was finished, the whole filmmaking industry stopped, as the best experts worked on it.
And now we got the second best recording of Queen live, made in a socialist country.

WHY IT'S HD: That time it was very rare to shoot Concert films on 35mm (=big screen movie) films (they mostly used video tapes). However, the Hungarian crew managed to get 16(!) 35mm cameras for the show. The band's manager also saved a raw copy if it's "ever to be remastered". And, some years ago, it was :D Digitizing this type of film gets us a quality of at least 4K UHD.

yeahh this is what I think too everytime I watch these videos, but it´s much worse if you had the chance to see Queen live and you didn´t. like my parents. They had the chance to see Queen live in the 80s but they wasn´t big Queen fans at this time so they missed the chance. my uncle who is also a big Queen fan for decades had the chance to see Queen live but he never was at a concert. Now he is very angry that he missed the chance

Hungarian Rhapsody makes a lot of sense, because Freddie was very influenced by Liszt and Chopin on his favorites chords when writing on the Piano. but (surprisingly) he felt very limited at it (of course he was not), I´d wish he would have carried on in the 80´s but then he met Mike Moran who played just the right notes he loved again. the silent moment at 2:13 is breathtaking and inspiring, the Greatest at his own Art to himself.

I really wish the beginning of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie was the end of this clip here...Freddie stretching and visualizing the crowd. I think it summed up how much he loved preforming. It’s where I wish to be one day. I would have given anything to be standing watching him stretch and belt notes who’ll hardly anyone is there. So inspirational.
