Rewiring electric, adding cable and phone lines, moving plumbing, using the tagging location on a wall then being able to see it thru a floor. Anybody that works in those fields and how much time that would save.

I could not care less about 3D gaming but am really interested in AR uses. I could see this being used in all sorts of areas like medical, engineering, and mechanical jobs of course. One other place that I think would be interesting would be interior design where the walk-thrus could show the changes to a room overlaid on the real room so you can see how big or small the changes would be. How big that sofa or table would be in the room you're in, etc.
AR is the real future use for this stuff. VR has been around for a long time and if it were really going to take over, it would have by now.

Apple's approach has always been to create a platform with UI systems for developers to create apps upon. Meta's approach is harvesting user data via 'social' media capture before Google does.

VR is the future of social media, and meta nails it

The recent CZcams coverage of the Quest does not seem fair to consumers. Trying to look unbiased, several creators recommended buying the Quest because “it can do most of the things the Vision Pro can do for $500”. The two might share the same categories, but the user experiences are very different. They’re both cheeseburgers but the McDonald’s cheeseburger is not the Wendy’s cheeseburger. The Quest was a nauseating, trippy, clunky, blurry experience that I did not want to repeat. One reviewer nailed my Quest experience when he said “he couldn’t wait to get through the Quest UI to play a few cool games he really enjoyed.” He stopped playing with it mostly because the games were not worth the trouble. Do you think consumers are looking for similar categories or user experiences?

This is exactly what I was saying ones a Honda civic the others a rolls Royce do they both drive ? Yes , but the experience is very different , ones a lot cheaper it’s up to the user weather the money is worth the different experience for them

Agreed, anyone that wants to do an honest objective review would compare the Apple Vision Pro to the Meta Quest Pro. They were both designed for the “Professional” market and they have the most comparable hardware (added cost of eye tracking and auto IPD adjustment). I understand the deceit that Zuck was doing by making the comparison but all the people that followed his lead lost credibility. You don’t compare a PS5 to a MacBook Pro and claim the PS5 is a better product, it’s just silly.

@@bobwitmer2492 agreed, people will believe the Quest IMPROVED since the AVP release. It’s crazy that reviewers are not continuing to tell the truth about the Quest’s problems, it’s like they disappeared once the AVP arrived. These reviewers shilling for Facebook are despicable knowing his history. Of COURSE he will lie, he wants that data from his users.

Like that conversation between Ginsberg and Don on Mad Men:
Mark Zuckerberg: "I feel sorry for you"
Apple Vision Pro: "I don't think about you at all"

29:24. One of the coolest applications I've seen, was a guy who was using the AVP to control his DJi drone. Because of the way Apple does things, he was able to have a huge screen positioned to track all of his flight data, and the camera feed, while ALSO being able to watch the drone directly in passthrough, while also stopping the sun from blinding him. Like this looked like a FAR better solution from flying with an iPad or other head mounted displays. The only downside was the setup was a bit clunky as he was running this through his Mac, but if DJI release a Vision App that connects directly to the controller, this would be an utterly epic way to control a drone.

Agreed .. there’s also an app on your phone called bezel. Can directly mirror to Vision Pro! No iPhone to Mac to vision needed. I have a mavic 3.. and can’t wait to try it this weekend

    Zuckerberg being defensive? Who'dathunk! Lol
I have no interest in these overall. I bought a Vive a few years ago, and I just didn't care that much. A big issue for me is I am far sighted of and need substantial glasses to use any of these, and even with available options, it was just uncomfortable. Joe Scott discussed his issue with needing zeiss lenses or something, and that just seems like a huge hassle, and an even bigger expense.
That said, Joe's discussion and demonstration of leaving windows and timers everywhere seems really cool and useful.
Morgan Gold (he's a youtubing duck farmer in Vermont, that is "yuppie-ish", and a good watch) has a new video on the Pro, and societal impact. I dont agree with everything he says, but an interesting perspective.
Anyhow, I always enjoy your chats. (I'm still looking for one regarding your John Deere interview 😉) cheers!

Regarding the "sensitivity" of reporting about facts from China, I feel the comments are wrong. When you mention a technology that is being developed in the US, do you have to preface it with a disclaimer about all the atrocities and poor human rights actions the US has taken over the years. Even as we speak, the US is the primary ally and world power vetoing and UN action action in preventing a current ethnic cleansing in Gaza. In fact MANY places in the world especially places in the global south would be correct in assessing that the US foreign policy has had a far negative impact on them than China has. The same can be said about Western multinationals as well.
There is room for nuance in this world. China can have a questionable foreign policy human rights record and still be commended for it's actions advancing renewable energy which will benefit all of humanity in the long run.
The only reason America seems to have developed a "sensitivity" to China in the last decades is because China is following the USs steps towards superpower status, and Americans view China as the only real challenge to US power in the world today.
Personally, just continue with your apolitical style and report on what's happening in the world of green tech.
