  • Wadi el Gemal National Park is a relatively unknown pearl in Egypt. It includes a part of the Sahara desert, mountains and a huge area of the Red Sea with all its marine life. The name means Valley of the Camels, one of the animals that live here with the Ababda epople. In this video you'll see diversity of Wadi el Gemal. It includes nice excursions such as snorkeling with thousands of fish, visiting several temples, a jeep safari in the Sahara desert and a dinner under the stars.
The richness of the Red Sea is well known to divers and snorkeling enthusiasts. The coral reef with thousands of fish and other animals, the climate and the beaches attract countless holidaymakers. Behind it lies the Sahara desert. The sea, mangroves, mountains and desert come together in Wadi el Gemal NP. This is a nature reserve with an unprecedented diversity. The transitions are especially unique. From bone-dry to soaking wet and from little life to an explosion of life. I made a round trip of a week to see what the most beautiful attractions are.
If you visit the interior of Wadi el Gemal you will come across several ancient temples. They are remnants of an ancient trade route to the west. This was once the route from the Red Sea to the Nile River. They traveled across the desert. In this area the Ancient Egyptians extracted porphyry, which is a type of natural stone with crystals. Pharaohs in particular were given a throne of the rare porphyry. The Romans also loved this jewel.
Despite the drought, people once lived here. There is even a village about two hours' drive from the coast. With real temples carved into the rock. Furthermore, there are many rocks and a lot of sand. It's amazing how you can survive as a human being.
According to archaeologists they are Roman temples, which are remarkably built close to each other. Although not everything is clear about these temples. You can easily visit all and even walk through them. Unfortunately, there is some graffiti, including from one of the first researchers. Surrounding it are simple stone houses, which have largely perished.
Wadi el Gemal National Park is a massive piece of nature. With a huge diversity to explore. I was there for five days and enjoyed every minute of it.

Lovely is an understatement, I have visited Egypt 4X, the last time in April 2022.I have to admit I love Egypt but it`s not one of the easiest places to vacation as a single black woman.
Still, the challenges id what make it even more interesting for me.
    Thanks fro sharing

I can imagine it might not be easy, and I reckon it will be challenge. But good for you that you still do it.
