Outdoor Slingshot Target Back Stop (Optimized)

Here is the fully optimized set up for my outdoor slingshot target back stop/backstop made from 3/4 inch PVC. I added a taller, tougher bin which catches ammo better and resists cracking like a champ. I also clamped the cloth into a funnel shape which works incredibly well for target shooting and for single, light hanging targets. (If I want to shoot multiple standing cans or something like that I would just un-clamp the cloth and turn the bin sideways.)
It works with almost all slingshot ammo. And has been tested with; 5/8 inch glass marbles, 1/4 inch steel, 3/8 inch steel, and 1/2 inch steel. And I think I can finally say it is my perfect outdoor ammo catcher/back stop!

good idea to clip the two lower corners of the towel to narrow the drop path of the metal balls. I too use a towel to stop the balls but I can't find a wide basket to catch the balls, thx for the idea.

You got a sub mate, I was looking for another makeshift target since the cardboard box that I made with a thin cloth for back stop doesn't stop my also makeshift ammo, which is a small marble, this could be good, i'll make this one ASAP. Cheers!

How about rigging the target such that is will spin around the PVC pipe instead of winding around it. that way you wouldn't have to walk up to the target and unwind it every time you hit it. Can't think of a store bought ring that would spin around the pipe and give you the opp to tie the string to it. When I do I'll let you know. Great video.

For sure. So I usually rig it with a long cord like this where it will just swing when hit, or with a tight short cord, where it will spin around when hit like I have rigged in my catchbox. To get it to spin I normally have a tight horizontal cord hooked to both walls of my catch box, and you just make the duct tape target with a loop on top, and it'll spin around the cord when struck.
