No sooner did Mikhail Botvinnik regain his title, the chess world became entranced by charismatic young Latvian named Mikhail Tal. Tal won the 1958 interzonal tournament at Portoroz, then helped the Soviet Union to retain the Chess Olympiad; before going on to win the 1959 Candidates Tournament with 20 out of 28 points--a point and a half ahead of second place Paul Keres.
Tal often sacrificed material in search for the initiative in chess. With such intuitive sacrifices, he created vast complications, and many masters found it impossible to solve all the problems he created over the board, though deeper post-game analysis found flaws in some of his conceptions. Although this playing style was scorned by ex-World Champion Vasily Smyslov as nothing more than "tricks", Tal convincingly beat every notable grandmaster with his trademark aggression.

Tal doesn't get checkmated - he just sacrifices his king. #Tal
Is Tal the Chuck Norris of Chess now?
Haha😂
😂😂😂
it doesnt make sense but eh
Magician OP
"is there any better player than mikhail tal ?"
"none at Tal"

Wruce Bayne what about Fischer?
Wruce Bayne what about Fischer?
Rashid Gibiatovich Nezhmetdinov - beat Tal, and for me is the best chess player ever!
Rasid nezhmetdinoz....he can sacrifice even his king to win a game if it were to give him the win...he was also teacher of Tal and beaten him 3 times out of 4....
Rashid nezhmedinov
Tal and Fischer had a deep chess intuition, where as others had to calculate, they just saw the best move. Congrats on a great channel.
Thank you Locutus, and thank you for being one of the first subscribers and a supporter.
Here is a nice quote for you :)
"The knowledge and experience of the human Picard is part of us now." "I am Locutus of Borg"; "Resistance is futile
Hello Agad!!! Is there actually a way to see who and when people subscribed to a particular channel (or only on your end?). Just curious! Congrats on everything my friend.
+CJ Monti I don't know. This info is available to me, but I don't think others can see it. What do you want to know? :)
You are welcome, and you really know your Star Trek: TNG.
@@agadmator which option should I choose to know this?
Tal Sacrificed everything on the board, and in his life. his marriage, his health, his life, for chess. He was an incredible attacker, and a calculation GOD. He was, an unstoppable legend. A true chess MASTER. Never forget #Tal
It's amusing that despite having such a flamboyant style of play, he still to this day has the record for longest streak without losing a single game (95 games). In fact, he has both the longest and the second longest streak (84 games). Some people thought So was going to catch him this year, but Mamedyarov stopped that, So only reached 67 #Tal
Calintares I thought capablanca didn't lose a game for 8 years? Maybe it was he never lost a match
so how many games did Capablanca play during those 8 years?
+The Pepster yes, but in those 8 wears he played less than 95 tournament games.
Ding Liren made it to 94 and ongoing, let's see will he break Tal's record
I won 147 matches continuously against level 1 stockfish and im happy about it :]
Botvinik came up short, because he was not Tal enough #Tal
In fact, the most popular opinion was that Botvinik wasn't quite prepared for Tal's style. They haven't played before that match. In the rematch Botvinik was prepared and Tal didn't have many opportunities to play the style he liked.

Embarrassed to say that I hadn't even heard of Tal until your videos of his games. Who couldn't be a fan #Tal
Well, I myself have never heard of Tal, until the first time I did, and then all was well :)
A small story of a Proud Legend
Once upon a time.....
A kid was 12 years old and Kholmov was a Latvian champion.
The game ended. And few years later Kholmov declared I would have resigned earlier if I knew I was playing with a future world champion.
He was never depended on his Queen nor behind his opponent's Queen. He sacrifices all his pieces just to catch hold of his opponent's King alive.
He is playing black, already down with 5 pieces and 3 pawns. But his army has huge advantage that, his master is a Legend.
The king will be safe until he is in the hands of Creative Genius.
He simply does not play like any other great players, but still wins the game daringly.
Because He is....
He is.....?
He is Tal ! And who is Tal ?
I think he needs no introduction.
If Chess is a religion then Tal is God.
Thank you very much Tal for such a great tactics, daring and notorious combinatorial style of playing and entertaining the Chess world.
Please incarnate to hit the floor again.
#Tal
10,000 subscribers... time flies! Agad deserves all of his 1m+ subs.
There are two types of sacrifices: correct ones and mine. -Tal
Did he actually say that? Feels like something he would say the crazy bastard. Getting goosebumps already
I would enjoy having Tal as a friend... to go to the bar and library. A man who plays like this must be a fascinating person.
i once watched a game for Mikhail tal when his opponent made fun of him that he can't sacrifice even a pawn, well Tal smiled and agreed and maybe i should mention that in that very simple game Tal sacrificed twelve pawns, three horses , one chariot, half a dozen of light dark blue pink bishops. Tal was sacrificing right left and center up the board and under the board he even sacrificed his king twice .then when Tal was running out of pieces Tal started sacrificing his opponent pieces. after a while Tal was complaining to the tournament organizers why can't he sacrifice his chair ,his left shoe and the bottle of whiskey he ended up sacrificing two fingers from his right hand just to push the opponent king to the corner, he was trying to negotiate with one of the spectators about how much mony he would pay him to sacrifice him on the board . the opponent still in shock until now he is in a mental care hospital just saying two word: Tal sacrifice Tal sacrifice sacrifice Tal ... for Tal it was just another day in the office and life went on xD #Tal
Yahia Bns best joke
I love Mato. I wish I remembered which video this was from XD
it was on tal vs magnus carlsen april fools video
Yahia Bns LOLL, you are funny my friend!!😀
Lol damn
TAL’s fundamenTAL approach towards experimenTAL sacrifices have often proved to be instrumenTAL in his ascent as a transcendenTAL force in chess history, quite often proving to be detrimenTAL to many a morTAL who faced him as an opponent. AnecdoTAL evidence only shows him as a monumenTAL force in the “menTAL war” on the board, where his victories have been bruTAL and often faTAL in terms of the nature of his game, thereby elevating him to a pedesTAL on which he is still worshipped as an immorTAL. May the Magician’s (From Riga) Magic live long enough! #Tal

Nice one
I still can't believe that he was celebrating 10k sub 3 years ago! Amazing job!
You can actually feel Tal's love for chess in each and every sacrifices made on his games. It's like he's a magician trying to impress an audience on each and every move. #Tal
I sometimes sacrifice pieces playing against a level one computer thinking I have some magical powers like Mikhail Tal, then I get mated in 6. Still learning. Love the vids. #Tal
Good approach to learning :) Thank you :)
Love the way he says "Hellow everyone"🖤
"Some say Tal even had 9 pawns. He got one out of his sleeve." #Tal
Great to see all your creative activities from the last few weeks. Your streams with guest appearances, your giveaway, your increased postings. It seems to be working very well for you. Well done!
Thanks a lot, Rick! I'm on vacation from work 2 weeks and have decided to really go for it :) Sadly, my vacation ends in 2 days, but the content will remain :)
And now after 2 years he has 631k subscribers.. 💓
Tal was like my favorite poet, Shakespeare, even some of his lost games are beautiful, a win like this is Heavenly Beautiful. #Tal
Best player of all time, one and only...Mikhail Tal #tal
Though many Americans like to think Fischer the greatest of all time, I have always found Tal's style to be the most enjoyable to watch and learn from. He seemed to play without fear of losing pieces, he seemed to mentally dominate his opponents with this bold approach, and I hear his glare was legendary as well. In my games I never ask, what would an engine do, but what would Tal do? #Tal #WWTD
It's just fascinating to me that Fischer played engine moves before there were engine moves.
Its amazing how much you’ve improved as a showman since this video. No wonder you’re the top Chess channel on CZcams.
When people say "imortal game", what they meant was "Tal game" #Tal
*_Tal is Genius Greatest of All Time✨_*
If it was possible tal would sacrifice his own king to get a checkmate, GOAT, PS your live streams are amazing #tal
we have to calculate variations, tal just sees them, my favorite chess player of all time #Tal
you make my life heaven sir..... thank you.....I have been watching you since 2018...

Congrats man! Heres to another 10,000 😀☕☕☕.
Yes agad... You also went from just 10000 to nearly 700000 subs in just two years!! You deserve it!!
Woah, and today you have more than 1 million subscribers, and Im glad I was part of them!
Great admiration for Fischer and Kasparov. For Misha, only love.
As someone just getting into chess, watching Tal makes my brain hurt #Tal
Gotta love Misha. Many were (are) ferocious at times, (Alekhine, Fischer, Kasparov, etc) but Tal truly had the spirit at all times. And could be positional when absolutely necessary. And congrats and continued success! #Tal
I can't say he is my favorite player. And I didn't know too terribly much about Tal until watching your channel. However after watching his games I can say that Tal's insight is truly unique. There will never be another like him. #Tal
Love The Magician's aggressiveness! doesn't back down!! You speak Legend, you speak #Tal
Tal like Bobby Fischer plays for win when he's playing with black. Good game! #Tal
I love Tal because of how his mind is so complex and when he plays such a complex game he truly owns it, I wish I were alive when he was around.
#Tal
I have been watching TAl's game for a long time. He is completely unpredictable, his moves, sometimes cannot be understood. unorthodox undef ending champion of all times!
10k subs... Now at a million
What a beautiful game! Tal was a daring and creative genius. Knight to f4 was such a fantastic move, Botvinnik simply could not TALerate the complications he presented. Thank you for always making great videos agadmator. Take care. #Tal
from 10k to 444k in two years. Congratulations, you're an excellent presenter of chess games.
I decided to watch this again. Ha ! 10,000 subscribers ! I always knew you would break a million. I watched it raise to 100k to 100k the. Quarter million. Kept rising. We love your content.

I fell in love with chess when I was stuck in a place where it was the only entertainment by default watching your channel really helps low level players grasp high tier concepts, thanks for the great work now I actively seek chess for entertainment!
You almost at 100,000!!! Keep up the good work!!
Sir,how sad it is that many chess super gms talk about Tal but he never said anything and went on delivering masterpieces, this gives me immense motivation to carry on with your own job, critics do not have statues, achieviers have
Antonio i came here 5 yrs later :)
10,000 subs and now almost one million. keep it up
No one in chess history made such absolutely jaw dropping moves like 2 genius: Michail Tal and Paul Morphy.
Tal must have been out of his bloody mind to dare to play Knight H5 to F4 in a World Championship match against the guy such as Botvinnik, a guy who moped the floor with Capablanca, Lasker, Alekhine, Euwe...
It is a greatest pleasure to watch such genious moves.
Absolutely amazing !!! Ouauhhh !!!
Tal is one of my favorite players because he is so unique compared to all the others in the history of chess. He plays in such an aggressive style that I have almost only seen by Tal. Tal is the most attacking player #Tal
Here in 2021, what a long way he has come
@Agadmator look at how big the channel has grown from 10,000 subscribers. I still come back to watch Tal games as modern chess players are into so much opening chess theory
Junior demonstrations I've really come to have a great appreciation of Mikhail Tal. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful perspective
Congrats on 10K! Tal played like a mad man! I love his crazy sacrifices. #Tal
Tal's games inspire me to play better - to play more complex and rise to a new level. I thank you for the videos as they have definitely helped me on my way to becoming a master here in the States. #Tal

Your excitement of growing 100% in just 18 days is amazing to watch.
Been watching your videos for quite a while specially tal videos and I just remembered I havent subscribed. You just earned another subscriber :) thanks for posting these helpful videos!
Thanks Perez, welcome aboard :)
One of Tal's legacies was depicting simplicity through novelty, by an unconventional, yet intentful, approach to seemingly uncomplicated positions.
He had the foresight of a seer, making some of his games appear uncanny.
Tal made chess interesting and showed the true wonders of calculated sacrifices #Tal
You're the god damn best. Thank you for your videos.
Lol, this video pop up on my home. Not so long after you reach 1 mil subs.

What you said at 2:57 was amazing, such a nice way to narrate the events, I've literally heard that part like eight times today (seriously) and in different hours, just wonderful.
I'm old enough to remember following this world championship as a school boy. Botvinnik had seemed immovable up till this point. #Tal

Grats on 10k #Tal
Always the greatest attacker from Riga Mr Mikhail Tal...
It’s fun to see how much my dude Agadmator has grown. I love your work sir!
I am just getting into chess and am in no way qualified to talk about the legends of Chess with a completely objective point of view, but something I have noticed about Tal displayed in every match you have done on him is how he is always fun to watch. Sometimes, maybe even a lot, the engine disagrees with his moves, but no one wants to watch two boring computers play each other, and Tal would probably wipe the floor with that engine anyway. He and Fischer had a certain flair that made their games not only educational but entertaining to watch, and was constantly on the attack. Tal is a legend. #Tal
Spencer Taylor Let's get the facts straight. However entertaining his style is, Tal (and every human player ever) would get absolutely crushed against any modern competitive engine.
Magician From Riga ! What a good game form Tal ! #Tal
awww 10,000 milestone. good memories
Congrats, hope u reach 100k in next 18 ☺
+Aleksandar Cvetkovic I'll settle for 5 more, but thanks :)
