I loved this review. Love how Zack talked about the emotional aspect of how it feels to own certain cars. I just leased a '23 Crosstrek after totaling my new CX30 a couple weeks ago. The CX30 turbo is a wonderful vehicle but absolutely guzzles gas while requiring premium fuel for max performance. So I made the switch. And I am so excited to experience my first Subaru
There are versions of this that have the extra info referenced, like mine, I have a center rear console/armrest, but still no rear vents. I LOVE the rear legroom, it sold me on getting a second Crosstrek instead of a CX30 turbo, which has shockingly little second row legroom. Like... a joke. Also, it is as you say with the 2.5, it really makes the thing not a total dog. Lastly, I really like the way it handles and goes around tight corners and on ramp kinks without getting fuel starved, you can come out of corners really well.
My dad has a 2018 Crosstrek Limited brought brand new like 4 years ago, and I like it a lot. It's a great all around compact crossover thats great for urban and city driving, and for lightly off roading, and it's fairly reliable, except one thing that kinda ruins it and that i don't like is the CVT transmission. Yes there is a manual mode even though it's a CVT, but the Crosstrek offers a 6 speed manual and it's only in the base model Premium trim, and I believe nobody brought it at all, or it seems like nobody knew that it offers a manual and they're pretty rare in my opinion. And thank God it still has a 2017 to 19 Starlink Infotainment system with buttons and knobs and not the tall vertical one in their newer vehicles that's very distracting!!
Subaru can't give away the Impreza hatchback but with a small lift and some purposeful cladding these fly off dealer lots. Crosstreks are excellent off-road even stock. This is the engine it should have had from the beginning. Now, if only Subaru would make a Crosstrek WRX... I'm partial to the orange but Subaru puts some of their best colors on the Crosstrek. I'd argue that this car is more what Subaru is about now than the WRX. It's a hiking boot on wheels begging for adventure.
Shows how gullible people are. Only 15% of crossover and SUV owners actually take them offroad! Yet these car companies convince them that they need something that rides up high because it's far more profitable. I have an Impreza hatchback and love it, didn't want a crossover (not everyone does) and hope Subaru doesn't axe it. The Impreza actually had a sales increase this year from last year of over 100%!
Had a 18 model in same color have had a dozen different Subarus since from 5 foresters to ascents to outback’s only one I regretted selling was my crosstrek in this color most fun driving vehicle I’ve ever owned just order my wife a new Forster 23 and now that I’m driving more for for work I’ve decided to get a 3 rd vehicle and it’s gonna be a crosstrek in this color again I should have never got ride of it and have regretted it since the day I did what a nice fun driving vehicle and awesome on gas !!!! Love them
FYI, your comment about the upper info display being lacking and no rear center arm rest can be resolved by going with the Limited trim for the Crosstrek.
I drive a 2014 version of this with a boxer diesel and a 6 speed manual, its a great driving car and its prety quick. My parents bought it new and its been daily ever since i got my licence. I like it but i plan on buying a w124 mercedes soon
i bought a premium, i wanted a 6 speed. i really do like the car, even if it is a 2.0. the 6MT makes pretty good use of the 2.0. i dont like CVT's, or the possible associated costs for repair outside of warranty. i like my manual crosstrek, it makes it more fun to drive. i hope subaru continues to offer a manual crosstrek. i do think a 2.5L 6MT would be nice, maybe a 6MT and a turbo WRX engine. i did test drive a CVT 2.0 and i thought it was a snails pace, if you do get the 2.0 i highly suggest the manual. it is much more lively
@DJkirakira the way it sits now, it's a great car. im getting 33-34 MPG consistently and that's with the hills around here. i am very impressed with the mileage, it is exceptional for a vehicle that's still very much usable. i live in wyoming co in ny state and we do get a fair amount of snow. i bought snow tires, steel wheels and applied fluid film to keep the rust away. i took the skid plates off, coated everything and re-installed. fluid film is a rust preventive product. im a professional truck driver, and my assigned truck is a 2022 kenworth T880 with a cummins X15 and a 18 manual, so naturally i just wanted a manual car LOL. CVT's are just so bland, and they cost around 7k to replace. with a manual, it might need a clutch as some point in it's life, it will cost nowhere near 7k. i plan on keeping this car for the "long haul", if i take care of it and keep it from rusting.... i could see myself still driving it 20 years from now

The best part of your reviews are the bottle test!
seems like it's always a fail! Wah wah wah wah
@@TheSkyline5467 Not always, just mostly with imports. Domestic vehicles almost always pass!

I bought my wife a 2021 Crosstrek Sport during the summer and she loves it to pieces.

The official car of driving 15 below in the passing lane
Subaru put the 2.5 in to fix the power issue. It's the engine it should have had from the beginning.
I passed my permit and gonna be practicing on this car. Kinda looking forward to it now. It’s kinda cool.
Bought a 2023 Cross trek Premium 2 moths ago in cool gray khaki and I love the care and the color.

Would you get this or the Forrester, having just reviewed the Forrester?
I would take the crosstrek at this time. I don’t have kids, it’s more affordable, and I think looks better. If I had a family I would do the forester
Hey man just a heads up the mobile submit form for car reviews is broken
Thanks, I’ll look into this!
Great review… But I disagree about the color… It reminds me of carpenters putty.
How is that gray lol?
First😊
