  • 50 years ago the London Bridge was moved from London, England to Lake Havasu, Arizona. In this video, fly along in my small airplane and learn WHY and HOW the London Bridge moved to the Arizona desert. You will discover little known history about the origins of Lake Havasu and why its story is so unique.

Had an uncle that drove over that bridge while it was still in London during WWII. He had a vacation home in Havasu. When the bridge was moved and reassembled there, he again drove over the bridge. So he drove over the same bridge on 2 different continents.

Dude, nobody could come close to beating that accomplishment. That's really impressive. It's probably the 2nd most famous structure that was built in Europe than shipped to the USA 🇺🇸. 1st is of course is the Statue of Liberty gifted by us from France 🇫🇷. But the same London bridge that was crossed by thousands of people on 2 separate continents is for surely unique.

This is an amazing story of how Lake Havasu was born and how
it became to be a great recycling project of moving the London Bridge to Arizona.
Thanks for the history behind the McCullough chain saws and boat motors and how
McCullough invested his millions into a local economy. I wonder if that
investment paid off? I’ve been to the Arizona site several times and the London
bridge many more times. Both are great feats. Now that we have all been
grounded from international travel, I will have to continue to seek out
interesting national places of interest. Keep up the great work, Wolficorn and
    keep the videos coming.

Think about the archeologists of the future, say 15,000 years from now.
We discovered an ancient bridge that was built in the middle of a desert at least 150' above the only river in the area. We thought we had it figured out when we found the remains of a dam downstream, it could have backed water up to the elevation of the ancient bridge. But with our dating technology we can prove that the bridge stones were quarried about 100 years before the dam was built. On top of that we can find no quarry location that matches the rock type used in the bridge.

The one that raises to let ships through. That was to be the attraction over the lake.
