  • Norway's recidivism rate is currently around 20%. It was at 70% in the 1980s.
    We talk to Norwegian Prison Officers about the systemic shift that occurred across Norway's correctional system from the 1980s onward. Looking at the pivotal role they played in creating change, their intensive training and their inspirational approach towards the rehabilitation of prisoners.

    I couldn't help but wish that this attitude would be present in all prisons - maybe particularly in New Jersey, where I am now.

    That prison looks like an elementary school. The problem with the USA is that prison are usually located in very rural areas, usually places with heavy unemployment and personnel limited in education and attitude. Desperate people guarding and controlling desperate people.
