Just went through this in SE TX. It tore up the leaves a lot. But thankfully they are bouncing back.
    Too much rain!
All of my cucumbers and melons are on cattle panels and did not come loose without any help.
Left my green house door open and the back window for airflow. Not sure that was right but it worked.
The struggle is real for our food!
    Blessings!

Here in Milwaukee, WI, we live in a quiet area. Storms usually split to the north or south of us. We've only had hail once in the 12 years we've lived here. Our garden is somewhat protected as it's situated with the garage to the west and house to the right with a fence to the north. We have tornadoes in the area, but glad we don't have to face yearly hurricanes.

It’s been relatively quiet the last 2 yrs here in Tx but the last devil windstorm was 60+ mph wall of fury that was gone in 20 min. It can happen so you are right to remind us to prepare for reality. Never had a tornado hit us but they do come thru every year. Good idea to go thru and think what could be tied down. It can’t hurt. All the hard work we put in is worth the effort to minimize damage if possible.

Ahhh thanks for this reminder. I was thinking about doing some cattle panel arch trellises without t-posts (cut off bottom and stab the ends into the ground) and this reminded me they'd be whisked right away by strong winds, which we get a lot of during hurricane season.

Everything we put in the garden and on the homestead we think about hurricanes first

I have been having such a hard time growing anything this summer. I have emptied a couple of my towers and stacked them in the corner of the patio. I have most of my grow bags against the apartment until fall

We are lucky here in WA, besides crazy windstorms (that does knock out power and takes down trees) we really dont have much extreme weather here. Hot or cold. Pretty mild in general.

My plan always is…put away what needs put away, lay down/brace/tie down what can’t be moved, remove anything that can be blown off. Coops and greenhouse are strapped. Chickens will be fine. One concern is always the rabbits. Their hutches are vulnerable to destruction and falling trees. Pray

I use the dog tie down you put in the ground for my bee hives. 1 on each side and the a ratchet strap. It holds them in place just fine

I would just be on a look out for the strong winds and make sure everything is secured

Been wondering how to deal with the crazy storms here. I have never gardened in a place with frequent hurricane type weather. In the Midlands of S. Carolina, it's not so intense but we definitely get some high winds. Great video.

Yes it is. The only thing you could do is alter your planting schedybut still that's a gamble.

I can tell your garden is nowhere near protected from hurricanes, or severe weather. If you experience 1 bad problem then you could experience a different problem that could completely destroy your garden!!! If you overlooked something, or more than 1 important thing to protect your garden then you would not be protecting your garden from anything.
I probably would create more than 1 garden just in case something goes wrong, and it is out of my control, and I am not able to protect my garden do to a variation of bad scenarios. Lots of people create their gardens similarly, and there are different scenarios that happen that can destroy a garden. Not all gardens are made the same way. Creativity can be, and is used to build gardens!
I think it could stay if you get a lot of wind, but since you overlooked something then you might be correct. Careful planning should be done before building a garden! I saw some gardens, and I think all of the wind you are talking about will not do anything to it, and the gardens I was looking at are not common.
