      Thank you! You definitely need a lot more hairspray than you think, basically to the point you can't feel anymore hair haha. One tip is to make sure each coat of hairspray is completely dry before you put more on. Oh and yes, the roots are the most important part so they need to be super strong. Hope this helps! 😁🤘

    I keep getting gaps and bits sticking together creating spikes, sort of. It's never a tight fan like yours where you can't really see through it. I use got2b freeze spray and a hairdryer comb but it will not go as yours. I have about 3 fingers width is that too thick? Yours seems less wide

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 5 lety +9

      I dont really do a good job showing it in the video but you wanna lightly spray each section just so it stands up on its own, you want it to still be somewhat soft so you can close the gap with your fingers and spray it. You can also lightly comb through your hair after you've lightly sprayed and dried it, this will make it go up and be more cohesive. Hope this helps!

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 4 lety +2

      The best advice I could give is to start out with it pretty short, maybe 2 inches or so. That way you can learn to put up a tall mohawk as it gets taller. If your mohawk is asymmetrical you can just take a little more off the other side to even it up. But if it's too thin after that it might not want to stand too well when its past 5 inches. Oh another tip, when you're holding the hair up with the comb, don't let go until the hairspray is totally dry. I'd honestly say to always trim it yourself, it can really get expensive going to the barber and clippers are cheap. Hope that helps 🤙

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 2 lety +2

      Afro hair will definitely work! It'll actually be easier to put up since it wants to stand on its own. Just grab it with the comb the same way I do in the video and make sure the hairspray is totally dry before you let go. You might need to use your hands to shape it more to get perfectly straight sides, unless you like the poofy look. I've actually had friends with afro hair that didn't even use hairspray, it just stood up on its own and they shaped it with pomade.

      It takes lots of practice and a lot more hairspray than you think you'd need. Make sure to really dry the hairspray with the hairdryer and pull the hair tight the whole time. One other thing is to spray both sides of a section and dry it before letting go of the hair. Always make sure to start from the roots and work your way up, and one other thing, try texturizing powder if you have silky hair. Hope this helps!

      Don't worry lol, trimming is super easy after you get the hang of it.
      Start with a small section in the front and get it the length you want. You can use the first section as a guide for the second one. Hold part of the cut section up with the next section, trim them to the same length. Just keep doing that until you get all the way to the back. Make sure you can see the back really well with your mirror and take your time. Sometimes it helps to trim it when it's up too.

    How long does it usually stay up? I am thinking about getting a Mohawk just like yours but red and I am kinda worried it will go dead halfway through the school day

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 2 lety +3

      If you use enough hairspray it'll stay up for about a week. No worries with it staying up unless you get caught in the rain 😂

      @@samufaus2 I just found the width by using my pupils as a reference then parting my hair all the way down my head, making sure it's straight. Then just cut the side with clippers and do the same for the other side. Maintaining it is much easier, just follow the line you already have. Always make sure to use a handheld mirror so you can see everything clearly.

      @@MonsterBuddy10 When it gets alot longer or taller then you like how do you cut it then? Mines starting to get to long for my liking but I dont want to go to a hairdresser or barber since last couple times they've completely jacked my hair up.

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 5 lety

      What I usually do is cut the front to the length I want then grab some hair along with the section I've already cut and use that as a guide. I just do that all the way down the mohawk. Boy Neon has a video of him doing this same technique.

    I'm getting a mohawk soon can you use hair gel? Or is this the only way?

    • @MonsterBuddy10
      @MonsterBuddy10  Před 2 lety +2

      Hair gel only works for hair that is 1 1/2 inches or shorter. Gel is too heavy to hold up longer hair and takes too long to dry to be functional. I do sometimes use gel to seal the ends of my hair after the mohawk is up.

      If it's separating too much you can hold the sections together then spray them and dry with the hair dryer. Try to just get all of the hair up then worry about making it look good. Make sure to start from the roots of the hair
