  • Review of the UTG Medium Riser for use with the Bushnell TRS-25. I compare the TRS-25 HiRise and the UTG medium riser. The TRS-25 HiRise provides 1/3rd co-witness and the UTG provides absolute co-witness. I had visibility problems with the TRS-25 HiRise mount due to the LED emitter placement on the TRS-25.

the utg is perfect. the spring and the shape of the knob makes it super easy to mount

A lot of people talk trash about UTG. I have always found that their stuff is awesome for what you pay for it. Is it a little heavier than similar items from "Tier 1" manufacturers, yeah it is, but they work, are tough and the slight extra weight isn't that noticeable unless you're the type of person that bolts everything and the kitchen sink to your rifles.
I would consider UTG to be along the lines of the Ruger of the accessories market. Their stuff is a little bigger, a little heavier and more overbuilt than the competition, but they're solid and work just fine.
I just ordered two of these to replace the fixed mounts on the Primary Arms Red Dots on my AR and M&P 15-22.
    Good review!

I found the same . I've used their quad lock QD scope rings , pic rails . I really like their stuff. And I prefer the extra weight they give too . Makes the whole platform feel more stable and I've found especially with optics the sight picture doesnt jump around as much .

Thank you for the great review. I just ordered a PSA 10.5 pistol kit, and their combo TRS-25 with Magpul BUIS for it. I'll go add this UTG riser now. It looks like a great combination. In the past I have tried red dots, and hated them. Between my astigmatism making the dot look messy, and no backup when the battery was dead, I used scopes. But for a pistol, I think BUIS and red dot is worth trying, and I think red dot technology has improved. I've found UTG/Leapers scopes like their Bug Buster and Sniper lines to be a great value also.

Awesome explanation! I'm going absolute co - witness on both my AR 15 pistol and 16 inch barrel carbine. I have a fieldsport on my ar pistol that seems to be working fine and I bought a Bushnell trs-25 yesterday from Amazon because the are on sale for $39.99 currently 02/14/18. The Bushnell will go on my M&P sport II 15.

I use the utg on my bushnell. i prefer absolute co-witness too. Also like that it makes it more low profile on my ar. I have the original with the yellow/gold letters the laser is at the 4 o'clock position

Got mine at Amazon for $6 and works perfect on my AR 12. Co-witness with iron sights and Bushnell red dot.

Will the bushnell 3x magnifier work with it i have it at Absolute Co Witness with the utg i wanna order one but i dont know if it will line up

The Bushnell looks better on the UTG in my opinion. I’ll probably get the high profile UTG mount rather than the medium profile. I prefer the 1/3 co witness. I had to think about it for a bit, but I feel like even if your red dot goes out and you flip up your irons, you have a better field of view through the red dot housing with 1/3 co witness. So that and a fixed A2 front post would be my two reasons for that.

even with emitter at 5oclock it is still on the way and you will only see a very small part of the front sight post....i just bought a 1 inch riser now i need to get the .83

Thanks for the detailed video. Do you find that the new 6 o'clock emitter design is flawed?

    • @2phast
      @2phast  Před 8 lety +2

+Mutatedgenome Having the emitter at the 5 o'clock, 7, 8, 9 etc. is a better location, it avoids the issue of the emitter interfering with cowitnessing. Especially if the emitter is large. This seems to be an issue with doing 1/3rd cowitness, absolute cowitness is fine.

2phast Tactical that was my issue. supposed to be 1/3 but w the 6oclock mounted emitter my irons were useless. I bought one of these and am happy

What is the height inside that little window?
I'm looking for a mount for my pc carbine so I can mount a scope but still look through the window to use the stock iron sights.

Yeah, that Bushnell mount is crap. I am glad I bought my UTG one off Amazon and my Bushnell from Optics planet for less than Amazon is charging for the TRS-25 hi-rise model.

Also, there is a QR kit for the TRS-25 that works well also.

I hear ya, because the internal rail mount of the TRS-25 isn't removable, we are not left with many choices.
