    Definitely interested to see the mpg increase will look like. Those numbers are pretty excellent. I also have zero experience with diesel.

    Just watched another video of a GDE EcoDiesel install, and review. Does the flash tuner come with this kit? In the video I watched the guy had to take it to GDE to have it flashed. I live in Indiana that's a hell of a drive to go there to get it done. I want to tune mine to increase the life of my truck, improve fuel economy, stay in 8th gear on the highway, and kill as much of that dreaded turbo lag I can. Really want to get this kit, but I work alot so to have it flashed anywhere isn't worth the hassle. Awesome video! Keep up the great work. 👍

      I would give the guys at GDE a call. If you have a 2018 or older they can just send you the flasher so you can flash yourself. For the Gen III there is an added layer of security in the PCM so you need to have that bench flashed. You can pull it yourself and send it in or they might be able to just make a new one for you and send it to you so you can install and riiiip!!

      @@dieseJL I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn with 90,000 miles. Did you say the turbo lag isn't there anymore or it's greatly diminished? I have seen the old GDE pre ban online for sale. I have also been pushed to go to MRtuning for their kit with egr disabled. Idk that I can do those though with my truck still having a warranty.

    Have you had any weird issues with the JT tune? I have read about it not wanting to shift in first and second gear when cold. Causing it to rev quite a bit.

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +1

      No, it’s been awesome. They definitely hold the gears more when it’s cold but that’s to make it warm up quicker so it doesn’t bother me or Lisa 🤷🏻‍♂️

    My wife just took delivery of a 2022 jl Sahara diesel. Can you let me know if you gained any mpg Increases as well. I am going back and forth between Gde and banks. I am swinging towards gde as you are local to me. I like spending my money in my own state.

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah I would recommend them too. I really think the reflash is better than a fooler like the banks is. Plus you don’t have the ugly gauge on the dash and you get the added things like display messages and exhaust brake. For the fuel economy it’s hard to tell. It did not get amazingly better in the sense of I’m blown away by it, but I do think it’s a little better. I consistently average 28+ in the rubicon now which I don’t think we did before.

    Will any of these GDE tunes void an FCA purchased extended warrantee ?

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +4

      I would read the fine print of the warranty but it would probably void whatever it touches, ie. engine and trans. Very similar to putting on bigger tires. If you broke an axle after that you would be on your own.
      However, there’s nothing stopping you from putting stock tires back on and taking it to the dealer.

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +1

      Not in our eyes there’s no negatives, no. It’s actually probably a little cleaner and the tunes are EPA certified just like the factory calibration was!

    • @djp1234
      @djp1234 Před 2 lety

      @@dieseJL so why is it illegal in California?

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +7

      California doesn’t accept EPA rules although they align. For the EPA certification GDE spends money for time in a lab to certify the tune. This cert is acceptable for 49 states. For them to make the calibration legal to sell in California they need to pay the same amount of money to CARB certify it even though the rules are more or less the same as the EPA cert.
      The tune is clean enough to sell in California, it’s just a matter of do you want to pay the money and go through the hassle to make your tune legal in 1/50 states. A lot of tuners decide it’s not worth the hassle and money and that seems to be the case here.

    • @dieseJL
      @dieseJL  Před 2 lety +2

      The OEMs will always be a little conservative but GDE is a skilled group of guys too that have a little more knowledge and time to make it the best it can be. OEMs are often crunched for time at this last stage before launch and kind of get it good enough to ship and then are on to the next one. Don’t you find it weird when GM will say their 3500HD diesel has more power in 22 than it did in 21 with no engine changes? Then Ford will immediately follow suit to make sure they are best in class?

    • @kevinlisk9477
      @kevinlisk9477 Před rokem +2

      The epa
      makes chrysler install exhaust regens on these smaller diesel engine to pass emissions. These epa standards with all the emissions controls / Regen systems that use DEF puts so much sut buildup on these engine intakes and sensors that they will throw throttle and turbo low pressure codes. This flash may help by lowering regen times eliminating check engine lights and codes.
