Best part about your mod is that if something goes wrong you can buy a set of used stock pipes for next to nothing or buy a set of V&H and throw these in the bin.
It took me forever to do this. The plate was easy to remove but on the newer models there's a thicker weld on the inside baffle. I just rode around without the plate for a while. I would wiggle the baffle occasionally. One time when I was riding the lower baffle came out while on the road. I didn't see where it went. The top pipe was still baffled, a few months ago I saw that it was very loose but the flange was still hung up on the inside. After wiggling it and using pliers I managed to get it pulled out. The bike sounds a lot better. I still would like to get new pipes put on at some point.

Nope, the fuel injection system will calibrate on its own. You can add a commander if you are also wanting to add power, but not necessary on a 2009 C50.
I've noticed this video is 6 years old. Did you notice any negative engine performance in the long term? I just bought one of these bikes last summer. Really like it and I've thought of doing something similar but just a little leery.
I just sold that bike about 4 months ago exactly how it was in this video. Never had any issue with running, performance, or anything. The ecu self calibrates air/fuel mixture so no tune needed either.
@@SchofieldRacing awesome. Most of the videos I've seen are on the previous models that were carbureted. Love mine so far. Might do this. Thanks for the video and the reply.
Have you changed the spark plugs since doing this? Wondering if the bike is running more lean or rich? Ive done this recently and was thinking of adding a K&N filter but dont want to lean it out more than what it should be..
Robbie R, I have not changed plugs. I did a lot of research prior and since it is fuel injected it should calibrate itself. If your bike has a carburetor it will have to be adjusted. Let me know if you have any issues, I would like to add a K&N to mine as well.
I bought them off eBay. There are several sellers that have them. This link is for a seller with the same ones but I did not use this particular seller, just FYI www.ebay.com/itm/172034056373
I got a C90T with cobra after market exhaust. It’s quiet when I want it so..! And sounds off like a HD when I want it so.... I was lucky, I bought it used, with 6700 miles on a 2008 less then 4 years ago. Guy that owned it before , liked looking at it in the garage. It looked and still drives like brand new. Nearing 40.000 miles... I ride it all the time. New tires, change oil.... that’s it! Try and buy a HD that’s shiny and new for 4K.... 90 cubic inch... 1500cc.... I stole this bike🤗
On the 05 mine is fuel injection.. what did you have to do with the fuel system before you can cut the baffles out? Mine runs rich as hell most of the since I bought the bike with 2500 miles on it back in 07.. now I got 95k on it and it still runs rich... I have not touched the exhaust yet...
I didn't change anything with my fuel system before or after removing the baffles. If your system is working as it should, it will automatically calibrate with the change of the Air/Fuel mixture. You may have a bad Air/Fuel ratio sensor causing it to run rich.
@@SchofieldRacing kewl I been trying to find what could cause it to run rich. Where is it located on the bike? I got the hole saw dril but I got to see if there is one big enough.. I can't remember the sizes. Thanks, I appreciate the ideas on the fuel problem.
@@SchofieldRacing hey Danny, I tried to look up o2 sensors on my bike.. it doesn't have one. Instead it has a pair valve that allows fresh air in to the exhaust after it leaves the cylinder. They main complaint is they get stopped up and the bike popped back through the exhaust. Mine was just out right running rich. So I followed the guys advice, and for the first time since '08 my bike will idle on it's own and smooth as silk without having to rev up the engine to keep the bike running. I'm extremely happy at the moment. Thanks for encouraging me to do a Google search that has cured a problem the Honda shops couldn't.
I searched "hard saddle bags Motorcycle" on eBay and found them. I just looked again and found them again but they don't have a brand name. They are listed for $79.50 for the set. I like them, no issues.
I had a 02 Volusia and put Cobra pipes on it. I had to put bigger jets in the carbs and you wouldn't believe the difference it made in the way it ran, way more throttle response. Yours sounds pretty good, but nothing sounds as good as strait Cobras.
Cody Myers I have not unplugged anything. I have heard of people doing that but I think it would have an opposite effect. The O2 sensor is design to do just that, calculate how much fuel to mix with air for a perfect tune. Unplugging it will not allow the system to adjust for the pipe changes.
I recently bought a C50 Boulevard with the baffling already taken out. I can't ride the bike on long rides because when it gets hot it wants to shut itself off. I'm told it's because someone knocked the baffling out and messed up the back pressure. Now I have to get a tuner for it or buy new exhaust.
Sounds like they took the secondary baffles out as well or maybe a complete different issue causing it to shut off. I still have this bike and have zero problems with it.
@@SchofieldRacing well I decided to have a go at it. Not happy camper right now. In 1 ¹/² pipe has least 5 smaller pipes running along with it which prevents it from wiggling alot. And the hole saw blades I spent 40 bucks on only allowed me to get my sawzall started..lol. I'm going to try to get those inner pipes out this afternoon but holy cow it's a pain. Thanks for Video !! I do like your saddle bags ? Can you provide the brand I have a 2012 C50T? Thanks
titoperaza1 I will have to look when I get home tomorrow. They were already on it when I bought the bike a few years ago.
Plz make a update to this I also love those bags
Bags are very nice, if you could definitely post up name of saddlebags be greatly appreciated
Im am doing this today on my 09 buy c50t..will i have to add a fuel commander or any of that stuff...???
Nope, the fuel injection system will calibrate on its own. You can add a commander if you are also wanting to add power, but not necessary on a 2009 C50.
@@SchofieldRacing thank u
I've noticed this video is 6 years old. Did you notice any negative engine performance in the long term? I just bought one of these bikes last summer. Really like it and I've thought of doing something similar but just a little leery.
I just sold that bike about 4 months ago exactly how it was in this video. Never had any issue with running, performance, or anything. The ecu self calibrates air/fuel mixture so no tune needed either.
@@SchofieldRacing awesome. Most of the videos I've seen are on the previous models that were carbureted. Love mine so far. Might do this. Thanks for the video and the reply.
After doing this modification, is there popping and stuff on deceleration?
not with EFI maybe with carb
What about the 1st stage baffles? You removed the 2nd stage only
I thought it didnt have that raw straight pipe sound..still sounds better though.
Did I miss how you combined the two drill bits ?
The brand that I bought had enough space to screw 2 bits on the shaft. I believe it was Milwaukee.
Have you changed the spark plugs since doing this? Wondering if the bike
is running more lean or rich? Ive done this recently and was thinking
of adding a K&N filter but dont want to lean it out more than what
it should be..
Robbie R, I have not changed plugs. I did a lot of research prior and since it is fuel injected it should calibrate itself. If your bike has a carburetor it will have to be adjusted. Let me know if you have any issues, I would like to add a K&N to mine as well.
Danny Schofield ok im due for new plugs, once i pull them, that will tell me if they are running to lean or not.
Awesome!
Im not sure when they went efi but the fuel injected ones should be able to compensate for the extra flow from a few bolt ons.

your saddlebags look awsome!! what brand is that?
I bought them off eBay. There are several sellers that have them. This link is for a seller with the same ones but I did not use this particular seller, just FYI

Great explanation of how to do this.
Have you noticed a loss in performance "speed" and has any of your pipes started to discolor?
Thanks!
Definite gain at higher Rpm's and on the highway. No rust, no discoloration... its garage kept though and I live in Oklahoma.
Had someone drill holes in my exhaust on my Boulevard 2005, is a little louder, do I need to have the carb or anything adjusted now ?
I didn't need to adjust mine because it's fuel injected, I believe a 2005 is also fuel injected. If it is carbed then it will likely need adjustment.
Btw mines a S40 so pretty sure it's carb
Google "2005 Suzuki Boulevard Oxygen Sensor Location" 🙂
@@hearsejr Awesome, we both learned something today! Thanks for the update.
How did you combine the saw bits?
RONALD Rhyne, the bit that the blade screws onto had just enough space to add 2 holesaw blades.
How long did the hole saws take to cut threw ?
keep pushin!!!
I've read that some sensors start to go off, is that true for you?
Negative. I still have this bike and haven't had any issues at all. I made this video 5+ years ago...
Hey where did you purchased your side bags?
They were on the bike when I bought it. I found some on eBay around the same time but that was several years ago. I still have the bike though.
Aren't bikes engineered for a certain amount of back pressure from the exhaust? What problems can i anticipate?
thats what makes me think this is a silly thing to do. it is engineered that way for a reason.
No more than aftermarket pipes that have open exhaust ie 99% of them.
Can I ask what bags those are Danny? Going to look at this same bike today.
I searched "hard saddle bags Motorcycle" on eBay and found them. I just looked again and found them again but they don't have a brand name. They are listed for $79.50 for the set. I like them, no issues.
@@SchofieldRacing Do they remove easily or are they hard mounted/permanently attached?
@@hcamardelle They bolt on, you could take them on and off but not by pulling a pin or anything.
I had a 02 Volusia and put Cobra pipes on it. I had to put bigger jets in the carbs and you wouldn't believe the difference it made in the way it ran, way more throttle response. Yours sounds pretty good, but nothing sounds as good as strait Cobras.
Did the same different bike did u unplug ur 02 to go into open loop
Cody Myers I have not unplugged anything. I have heard of people doing that but I think it would have an opposite effect. The O2 sensor is design to do just that, calculate how much fuel to mix with air for a perfect tune. Unplugging it will not allow the system to adjust for the pipe changes.
U get any back firing
Cody Myers, I don't have any backfiring.
so hard to tell what the bike sounds like . You need to do a couple driveby's with the motor under load !
What about inspection ? Will it pass ?
This will probably vary state to state but in Pa they like to whine so prob not here.
Next show us how to get rid of those teeny tiny saddlebags you got on that thing. They look like cellphone cases
Aubrey.... the previous owner shouldn't have tried this hack job.
Now you will have to buy a controller.
Do you lose the back pressure needed for the motor.
Negative, there are additional baffles further up the pipe, I would not recommend taking those out too though. My bike still runs great!
@@SchofieldRacing Thanks for the tips.
Back pressure is a myth
Where’d you get those saddle bags?
They were on it when I bought it, but found another set on eBay. Not sure of the brand.
Was there any rejetting req'd?
Phd Credible , no jetting required because it is fuel injected. Carbed bikes need to be re-jetted.
Did you engine light come on yet?
B4 I get to do this . Same thing on a 2012?
I believe so, but you should research to verify same exhaust setup
I believe so but you should probably research to verify same exhaust setup
@@SchofieldRacing well I decided to have a go at it. Not happy camper right now. In 1 ¹/² pipe has least 5 smaller pipes running along with it which prevents it from wiggling alot. And the hole saw blades I spent 40 bucks on only allowed me to get my sawzall started..lol. I'm going to try to get those inner pipes out this afternoon but holy cow it's a pain. But as far as I can see there's no deep inner baffles...ill let ur fans know on this if it works and how bike runs afterwards cause idk what will happen lol
Did your fuel injection light come on or was it ok after the debaffle
I apologize, I thought I responded to this a LONG time ago... my bad. No lights, no issues and still runs great!
@@SchofieldRacing is ilegal do that? I mean police can stop You
@@heavystorm1406 I live in Oklahoma and we don't have state vehicle inspections, doesn't affect me here. Not sure how much it changes the overall emissions, i wouldn't think much for a baffle though.
@@SchofieldRacing sounds great, i Will do the same job to My Suzuki intruder 86 700cc
