    The last manager to beat Bayern to the Bundesliga title was Jurgen Klopp, but now it looks like Xabi Alonso will achieve that feat this season. Maybe that very achievement is what grants you a job at Liverpool.

    • @ezraezra2928
      @ezraezra2928 Před měsícem

      It should also note that Jurgen Klopp had won DFB Pokal with Borussia Dortmund at that time, beating Bayern Munich 5-2 in the Final, just a week before Bayern Munich had a devastating defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League Final, despite playing in front of the home crowd at Allianz Arena. Bayer Leverkusen will most likely won the DFB Pokal this year because they were the solitary team from Bundesliga that's left in the DFB Pokal this season (the other three were teams outside Bundesliga, with Saarbrücken playing in 3.Liga, having already knocked Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Gladbach out). They will play against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the DFB Pokal semifinal.

    Day 24 of asking a "What Went Right for Stade Brestois?" Video
    This is currently, by far, the best season in club history, one which could result in their first ever qualification for Europe in over 70 years of existence. There's a fascinating story to tell, from going bankrupt and slowly climbing back, to various great names that played there such as Ribéry, Makélélé or José Luis Brown, to the story of the Brest president going up against the Colombian drug cartel. Plus, you can have a lot of Brest related puns.

      Completely agree.

      Pickford is pretty much average. (And yes he has never let England down get over it). I feel like this is the only argument ever made about Pickford. If you actually look at the stats, or the fact he always makes his backline nervous, you realize quite quickly that he is just average.
      But Kobel has been exceptional for the last 3 years. Better in every aspect of the game.

    Oddly enough a lot of Spurs players have won things. Just not while at Spurs, an some only at international level. ie Romero, Gio and Richarlison all have won Copa America. Porro won Primeira Liga with Sporting, Bentancur won Serie A with Juve, both he and Deki won Coppa Italia, and Hojbjerg actually won Bundesliga with Bayern
    Harry Kane having absolutely nothing aside from his individual awards (Golden Boots, etc) is mental. And the year he finally moves away from Spurs is the year Bayern’s rot fully sets in.

  • @TheNormalJuan
    @TheNormalJuan Před 2 měsíci +3

    It does seem too Tottenham centric (I understand the reason, but it'd be more interesting with inclusions from different clubs). Son and Kane make sense, as they have been world class level for several years and actually came close to winning a CL with Spurs. But instead of Bissouma, I would give a shout out to James Ward-Prowse, who has been consistently really good and among the best midfielders in the PL outside of the Top Six teams (even better that some in the Top Six). At Southampton for more than 10 years he was often among the more important players and even captained the club for a few seasons, and now at West Ham, while not the main man, he's been a regular chance creator and done a very good job when called upon. Came close as Southampton were runners up of the 16-17 EFL cup, and even in the 11-12 Championship (his first season with the Saints first team) they were promoted as second in the league. It's a shame he hasn't received many call ups either, not because he's not good enough but because of the volume of competition for those midfield places in the England squad during his career. If he were to be called up for the Euros, he would have a similar final chance of an international trophy just as Pickford, but at the moment seems unlikely he'll be on Southgate's plans. There is still a chance he could advance through the EL with West Ham, but the level of competition will make it hard for them to reach the final stages. So, at least for the short term future, it's unlikely he'll end that trophyless status.

    Hey Alfie am a huge fan of your football essays. Thank you for being so consistent and informative. I have a question that has been bothering me for a while, Please discuss;
    1.Whatever happens when a reserve team plays in the second tier and gets promoted. Is it possible for Barcelona and Barcelona B to play in the same competition or a Ajax and Jong Ajax for instance? What about if Ajax gets relegated, can they play in the same league as their reserve team? What are the rules and aren't there conflicts of interest ??
    2.What happens when a championship side wins the FA or the League cup in England, can a championship side qualify for Europe's elite competitions by virtue of winning the FA or league cup? or say Sevilla get relegated from la liga this season but they end up winning the europa league would they play the champions league next season while playing in the segunda division? Please discuss.
    Thanks for being awesome. Love from Kenya

    • @Richi0h
      @Richi0h Před 2 měsíci +4

      1. Spanish B teams have to be a league lower than their parent club, so even if Barca B won the segunda, they'd stay in the league and I assume would be ignored when calculating the promoted teams.
      2. If a league 2 team won the FA cup (incredibly unlikely) and then somehow won the Europa League the next season (even more unlikely), they would be in the Champions' League.
      This is just from my understanding of the two situations, if I'm wrong then I'm sure someone will tell me so. 😅

      Or Bayern loses(as it's 99,99999% sure) the title, but wins CL. Then both Comans record is broken(his record is only for title champion, not overall titles), but Harry finally wins something.

    I would hardly say that FIFA International Soccer had "no competition" when it was originally released in 1993 on the Sega Megadrive / Genesis, football games had been very popular for over a decade prior and the market was saturated with many games, most of which were rubbish! It did however offer something different from what had come before.

    Kane very well break Lewandowski's 41 goals in a Bundesliga Season record in his first year in Germany and still not win a trophy, that would just be the epitome of Harry Kane, possibly the best player in the league, doing way more than he probably should and his team letting him down.
