Norfolk Southern 056 Military Train. Bristol Tennessee.

- I am still fairly new to Railfanning, and this is a first for me with a Military Train and also my first CN Locomotive. NS 1840 SD70ACC followed by CN 5687 GF643a Railfan Rowan was the conductor on this train. Please like and subscribe. Thank you.
As a boy, back in the 70's, I watched the last freight train pass through the neighborhood. Took nearly 50 years to turn it into a Rail Trail but that memory will always be there.
Navy Retiree who served on a Destroyer in the Cold War and small patrol boat unit until retirement.

Ray...My Dad as you know was a Military Officer in The USAF and our last Tour was at The Defense Construction Supply Center here in Columbus, Ohio. The Base was the 2nd largest Depot in the World at that particular time. We were there from 1968-1972. DCSC has since become DSCC as a Logistic Supply Center. Back in the day when Dad was in charge of Storage and Transportation, he over saw equipment used in Vietnam. We did have many Transport Trains pass through to load and unload any number of supplies and equipment and then the Train would go towards Lockbourne AFB out in Lockbourne, Ohio! That particular closed AFB is now known as Rickenbacker Civil-Military Airbase LCK! My siblings and myself saw many Tanks, Jeeps and Field Ambulances on those Trains back in the day. This video really brought back some memories! Appreciate you giving a shoutout to The Soldiers who served AND to the Families who also sacrificed while a Parent was gone. Equipment was from 328th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Squadron, 104th Cavalry Regiment all from 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team; 28th Infantry Division Pennsylvania Army National Guard returning from National Training Center (Training) Rotation 22-08 @ Fort Irwin, CA. Returning to Elizabethtown, PA.

Big military train, nice footage, I believe that's the same one I saw on Virtual Rail Fans Jonesboro cam last year headed for Roanoke VA and on to Norfolk, I remember seeing some in Roanoke last year on VRF and was up in Radford and Christiansburg VA not long after that hoping to catch one but never have,did film a Loram rail grinder in Christiansburg VA last year and a manifest came through Westbound while they were grinding!🛤🚂

That KCS line from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Leesville sees many military trains to and from Fort Polk just south of Leesville. I love it there!
Ive ridden them from Baton Rouge to New Orleans riding under a tank and ive ridden inside army vehicles being hauled on KCS too back in the mid-90s. San Antonio to El Paso Fort Bliss ive ridden a few military trains.

Just found to your channel and did become your 79th subscriber.
Always have loved military trains of course throughout the Vietnam War era they were pretty common and at the time I was living close the the NW yards in Portsmouth OH and close to a CO/Chessie line as well so I got to see plenty of action.
