  • We discuss with Daiki-san the best ways of storing your Japanese green tea, sencha and matcha. There are also two fun methods of upcycling your old tea leaves so they don't go to waste!

Upcycling old tea leaves # 1 | Chakouro
    1) Light a tea candle and place it inside your chakouro.
    2) Add approximately 2g of old sencha (tea leaves).
    3) Let the heat slowly warm up the tea leaves and enjoy the scent!
Upcycling old tea leaves # 2 | Roasting your own houjicha
    1) Add 10g of old sencha (tea leaves) to your pan.
    2) Gently allow the leaves to roast, while continuously tossing them.
    3) Let the tea leaves roast to your desired preference.
    4) Transfer to a plate to let the tea leaves cool down before brewing your houjicha.
    * Please note that open flames should not be left unattended and we encourage exercising caution when trying either # 1 or # 2.

Hello! I love your tea. I have some old Wazuka Sencha blend from 2021. Is it okay for me to still consume? I have not opened it before so it is still sealed! Or would you recommend for me to roast it first (or use it as incense)? Thank you!
