Shot across bow of UTMB on how they treat elites.
I hope this becomes a solid basis of further discussion in the sport
Excellent interview! I would absolutely love to see the elites get together and race another event!
It will be very interesting if they go for it..it would reveal a lot about how much power and influence organized athletes havein the sport
@@runsingletrack I think it would definitely change the sport as we know it. Something big needs to happen if we want the elite side of the sport to grow as the races/organizations currently have all of the power. How is it that elite runners are still having to qualify for and pay their entry into these races?! You merely have to look at what the Golden Trail Series is doing in sub ultra trail racing to see how messed up things are in the ultra distance races!
If they do go ahead with this idea, that could become his legacy. These athletes deserve so much more recognition.
@@matthewvanleeuwen9086 if they did it in Gary Robbin's new race that would really change the sport!
Haven't finished watching but Finn's face when Jim asked his opinion what races should he do just looked like a little kid on Christmas morning so awestruck and thrilled❤❤❤
loved hearing this. dropping the knowledge Jim. thank you for sharing.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it - Finn
Right? One of the better Jim interviews, I must say.
def the best interview I've watched w Jim. he was really sharing a lot and seemed very focused and in a good place mentally and emotionally. good to hear@@JaySizz
Fantastic interview. Jim is him.
Zach next?!
I've been trying to get Zach on the pod for years! Hopefully, soon
Love this extended interview with Jim. Thank you both!🎉
Hey, thank you! Yeah, glad we got to go long-form..Jim is a generous conversationalist
Thank you for sharing so openly
Such an inspirational journey / story
That's what I'm most grateful for too! I love when we get these types of interviews where no topic is out of bounds and the athletes are proving so much great content to think about well after the fact
i was waiting for the MJ question "when did this become personal?" :-) great interview
hahahaha..I'm kicking myself for not adding that one in
Wow!!!! What a great interview!!! I think Jim's humble kind nature has already made him a wonderful legacy. Would be interested in what he ate/fueled with before/during/after and also when did he get married to Jess? What did she say that lifted his spirits during the race? Do they run together? Thus was such an interesting, in-depth interview. 🎉🎉🎉
Nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
Was waiting and hoping for this, because I knew you’d be right into the real questions, Finn, and that Jim would be forthcoming. Great interview!
Means a lot! Thank you...there was so much more to cover..we had some internet connectivity issues in the second half that hyrt follow ups..I hope to do a round 3 somewhat soon
Great interview. The cycling discussion was interesting. Lance Armstrong's formula was 3 hrs on bike equals 1 hour running. Lots of talk about hiking. I am curious his hiking pace. I am guessing in 11-12 min range.
Nah. I'm guessing 8-9 min
By hiking pace do you mean per flat mile? I would assume most of what he is hiking is inclines
@@connorgray2896 I meant climbing more than 20% grade for Jim
@@jillsy2815 yeah you may be right. I don’t know but Jim is very fast
He quantifies what steep hiking is to him at 18:30. He says a 1k meter vert 8 mile route in an hour and a half or an hour 45, that's 11min 15sec miles to 13min 7sec pace. Think very steep violent crab walking, or jumping up from rock to rock. You know, "hiking" 😂
Yesssss
Thanks for watching!
My takeaway: sticking to effort based stuff
That's certainly a big part of it! Thanks for watching, by the way!
That, and his "Commit to the time and be patient"
the time in france has obviously changed him. he now seems very mature to me.
It's fun to follow the evolution of Jim, as a fan I've enjoyed every stage
Woohoo !!!
Hey, thank you for the excitement and for watching!
Yo Jim what's your Duolingo streak?
That reminded me..I need to re-start my Duolingo subscription..
Jim and his coffee
‘Zach’s race was good enough to win every year- but just not this year’…😏
Think Zach will come back next year? Is next year his year?
depends who else shows up haha@@runsingletrack
