    I’m a newbie to airbrushing; so vids like this are invaluable.
    Luv the way you itemise each step, explain it clearly and explain why it needs to be done; an excellent tutorial, thank you.
    Oh yes, lovely music too.
    Cheers

    Blowback and pushing the needle forward are the 2 things I learned here. Great lessons. Thanks!

    Didn’t know about pushing the needle forward and out instead of pulling it out from the rear. Thank you Alex. 👍🏻

    Nobody told me before I got into airbrushing that it was 30% painting and 70% cleaning 😂.
    I definitely have a love hate relationship with my cheapo Master.

    I clean my Evolution airbrush generally after each colour. But occasionally I have forgotten to clean it and the Tamiya paint dries and the needle sticks.
    I use some paintbrush cleaner and restorer to sit in the paint cup and soak for a while, then use old stiff paintbrush to remove paint residue.
    I usually take it apart to clean thoroughly.

    Blow backing is an important part of the cleaning proceedure... Basically every thing will go well on your next job

      I've seen other air-brush tutorial which warn against it as it may damage the seals between the wet & dry sides of the mechanism.

      I think there's a lot of "fear" around opening up an airbrush and getting into it - but it's just a tool ( and a relatively simple one at that), so there's no reason anyone can't do this

    Many times I forget to clean the front of my airbrush. It's usually when I get distracted by something else that I'm trying to do at the same time. It's a bad habit I need to get out of. Finish what you started

    Thank you, I wish something like this had been around when I took the airbrush plunge! My worst experience, and one that almost saw the airbrush flight tested was some primer, it got everywhere except on the kit...

    Alex, would neat orange squash work on dry hard material? I'm thinking the slightly acidic citric content might help break it up without harming the brush.
    Thought no 2. A USB powered mini vacuum cleaner might help draw detritus like bits of tissue and paint flakes out.

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Před 5 měsíci

      I don't think so. Think about spilling orange juice on a painted surface like a table or windowsill - Even left until it dries, it's not going to have much of an effect.

    Thank goodness the shop is fine now 😅😅😅 did you manage to find out who’s responsible for the drain outside the front door 🤔🤔🤔
    I liked this video very much… glad to see I’m not the only one who forgets to clean his airbrush out after using it 😝😝😝 I am impressed that you sell your own brand of thinners though 😍😍😍 I will definitely be checking out your on line shop to see what other goodies you sell and if Father Christmas is especially kind to me this year you may receive an order soon 😉😊🤣 anyway… all the best to you, thanks for another wonderful video and again I’m thrilled your beautiful shop wasn’t damaged to much and that you were there to clear it up 😅😅😅 goodness knows what it would have been like if you’d not been there 🥵🥵🥵 take care, Kenny 🙏🤞👍👍👍👍👍👍

    I am constantly having problems with my airbrush, I'll use it and can guarantee to come back the next day and the trigger won't pull back and the needle is trapped. I have to disassemble it every time even though the paint cup and nozzle are clean.🤷‍♂️

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Před 8 měsíci +1

      After cleaning my brush, I generally put some thinners in the cup so things don't dry out between sessions

    • @bugler75
      @bugler75 Před 8 měsíci

      Is it one of the cheaper brands? (All four of mine are cheap brands!)
      The needles can start to rust very quickly if your brush is damp after cleaning and then left eg in a shed or garage (experience talking!) I routinely blow through with alcohol and then remove the needle after each session.
      Maybe it will work for you😊
      All the best,
      Ian

    How about using an ultrasonic cleaner bath? Is there any reason not to use one?

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Před 8 měsíci

      The main reasons not to use one are several
      1) The detergents used in an ultrasonic bath probably won't dissolve what the ultrasound cavitation removes, so you still need to do a lot of manual cleaning and flush through anyway.
      2) You do NOT want to put solvents that WILL dissolve dried acrylics, lacquers etc in an ultrasonic bath.
      3) It's an expensive solution to a simple problem.
      That being said (if you already have one) when you've got most of the "big stuff" off, an ultrasonic bath can really help remove stuff after a solvent soak. It's also good if you've REALLY resistant stuff, but by and large it's not going to shorten the time you're spending cleaning THAT much - so it's not that it's not a good idea, it just doesn't add a lot to the equation for its cost. At the end of the day though - as always it's a matter of "you pays your money and takes your choice"!

    • @OldGrayCzechWolf
      @OldGrayCzechWolf Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@MannsModelMoments Thanks for the reply. I mostly asked as I already own ultrasonic cleaners due to my other hobbies/activities. I was just curious, but it looks like standard methods are better here.BTW, love your channel and hope your store recovers OK.
