1. CHN is community focused.
2. CHN is based on identified needs and functions within total community.
3. Health Education, Guidance and Supervision are integral part of community health nursing service.
4. Health services should be realistic in -terms of available resources.
5. Professional relationship and etiquette are essential in CHN services.
6. Community involvement is the integral part of the CHN practices.
7. Individual and families participate fully in all decision making relating to
attainment of health.
8. Continuous services are effective.
9. Well developed system of recording and reports are essential in CHN
Services.
10. Periodic and continuous appraisal and evaluation of health situation
and health services are basic to CH.
11. Health services should be available and accessible to all without any
discrimination.
12. All CH Nurses and supervisors should function as a team.
13. Supervision and guidance are needed to help the workers to produce a
highly quality services.
B. Principles related to Health Workers (5-Principles)
14. HW is responsible to the authorized health authority and functions
within the policies, general goals and objectives of health agency.
15. Effective HW, irrespective of positions or place of work, functions as a
team.
16. Health worker should never accept any gift or bribe.
17. Health Worker should be non-political, non sectarian in her/his
relationship.
18. HW must maintain professional dignity and must never accept any gift
or bribe.
C. Principles related to Community Health Agency ( 2 - Principles)
19. CH Agency should provide a continuing education program for nurses.
20. CHN Agency has clearly defined objectives and purpose for its services.
